WHO IS TEDDY ??       Teddy was Ethan's teddy bear. By age four, Teddy became Ethan's alter ego, an imaginary playmate. Sometimes Ethan became Teddy. Often Teddy was blamed for Ethan's mischievous behavior. Teddy was a boisterous, rambunctious and curious spirit. Many children, aged 4, mostly boys, have "teddy" playmates. By age 7 they are gone!!       In pre-school Teddies are mangled and mauled. ''Ethan," said Ms. Janet, "you can't let your imaginary friend take the blame for spilling the juice. You must learn to accept responsibility for your own behavior.''      And Teddies ask questions: ''Ms. Janet, why are crayons different colors?'' ''So you can make pictures of different colored things.'' "Why is that?" "Because things come in different colors.'' ''Why is that?" ''WeIl, because, ahh .............. ''       Kendra has named these ''Ever Questions'', since the ''why is thats'' can go on for ever and ever. Young children have an innate curiosity, seeking knowledge by peeling away wisdom like the layers of an onion. Hunting the tantalizing center. Playing the ''WHY'' game until they are stultified with, ''I can't explain it to you now. Wait 'til you're older. Just accept the way things are!''      The game ends. Teddy no longer asks questions. Teddy dies. Fading into the misty dreams of childhood past.       This periodical is devoted to discovering what happens when children are allowed to delve deeply into the pool of learning. To choose their own depth and, with guidance, taught not to fear what they may find. What new vistas of wisdom can be explored? What happens to us, to all of us, when once again our TEDDY SPEAKS?
