FIRST OFF, LET ME BE SURE YOU KNOW WHO I AM...
In my world the REAL Doug Paulson is the
dude in this picture:
Instructions: Fill with helium, and don't
let go of the rope!
Instant Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Float!
But who are these other guys who call themselves {rude
fellows} Doug Paulson?
All my life, I rarely have worked with, gone to school with, or palled
around with anybody else named Doug. The few times it has
happened, it has been a nice little source of amusement and teasing between
the parties. Soooo..... naturally, for me anyway, I decided to check the
various web directories to see if there were any Doug Paulsons
out there in cyberland. Many of the initial hits I made either did not like
to have their names linked, or their servers changed and I can't find them
any more. However, I have a new set of Doug Paulsons linked here, and I
guarantee you, these are all GREAT PEOPLE to know and associate with! (Well,
I haven't actually associated with them, and once they find this page, like
their predecessors, they may never associate with me, but....)
Here is the most scholarly, prestigious,
and religious Doug Paulson
that I found. Actually, he found me, after I had initially posted the Doug
Paulson page. He and/or his wife were doing some searching for genealogy on
the web, and ran across this page. We have established there is no relationship,
which is too bad. It would be nice to have a pastor in the family! His
ministry is to university students in Duluth, MN, which must be both a
challenge and a very rewarding pastoral assignment.
This next yound Doug Paulson is the one who gets the most
press coverage, due to his excellence, representing his school, Concordia
College, in Track and
Field meets. A "Yahoo" search will net several other links for him, which
list the race results. He may well be the most handsome of the Doug Paulsons,
and perhaps the most eligible bachelor? However, these links are not all that
new, so it's possible he's no longer available, ladies!
Now there is a realtor among us -- in
Coon
Rapids, MN, at least. However, like some of the other Doug Paulsons
listed below, this one is very shy. Almost all the other realtors on the
brokerage have their pictures on this webpage, but not our Doug Paulson
realtorklone. Hmmmm?? Is this some kind of syndrome?
The first Doug Paulson that I found used to be found at the University
of New Mexico EDAC facility.
This Doug Paulson sported a beard, appeared fit
(to my fat!) and is smarter that the next door neighbor's
pet mongoose. Whataguy! Made ya proud to share his name!
But now, he's no longer listed at that site, where they specialize in global
positioning technology...satellite images, maps from outer space, that stuff.
So now, if you look at the site, you can learn all about the University of
New Mexico's Earth Data Analysis Center (EDAC), but not this particular Doug
Paulson. How sad! Hope we find him again.
Now, let me introduce you to the golden-throated one
among the Doug Paulson tribe. He has credits for
voice-overs in films, narrates documentaries, and generally
makes himself heard in all sorts of situations...normally over
the airwaves in Canada, where he works in the broadcast media.
This
Doug Paulson won't let us see what he looks like, though.
He's one of those guys like the neigbor in "Tool Story" whose face
is never seen in public. We Dougs refer to him simply as
"Voiceman." ("VoiceDoug?") If you're in his radio
or TV area, you may know him well. But we know he's the best, sight unseen!
I do have a potential line on people who may know him, or another person who
lets his voice be heard, but avoids pictures... This first link is
to a young man who had had wonderful educational and career adventures
in the far north; you won't find the mention of
his friend,
Doug Paulson, until you get nearly to the bottom of his monologue,
however. His pal, perhaps "VoiceDoug," is identified
as a radio station technician, who does some voice-over work.
Another possibility of identifying this "VoiceDoug," is on a link to a
neat scuba-diving page,
that identifies a voice as that of "Doug Paulson of Sport Diver Television."
You'd think someone like that would let his face be seen, wouldn't you?
And, if he's a sport diver, could it be the same guy who was in Canada?
Our next Doug is just Douglas. He doesn't share
the surname, and the only picture we have to share is this graphic
giving us the razberry! This very special Doug, to his friends, at least,
was a student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Who hung out
with and amused some of our internet mentors who worked for one of the
servers in Las Vegas, Nevada...but I can't find them any more. I used to
be able to have you follow the link we gave here to find some very nice
home page helpers...that's how we stumbled across this Doug, who though
a Doug, was not identified as a Doug Paulson. But guess what I found NOW?
There is a Doug Paulson in Las Vegas who is the handler for a K-9 dog,
named "Bach,"
whose specialty is tracking and protection. Wonder if he is the
same Doug that "Mitzi" used to list on her page at the Wizard ISP? In any
event, we Doug Paulsons all think he's a great guy, one way or the other.
With one dog handler named Doug Paulson, wouldn't you know
we'd come up with another Doug Paulson klone who breeds dogs? No website for
this Doug Paulson, but he and his wife are listed as owners and breeders of
one of the winners listed on a page of an extensive dogshow site.
Look
for dog entry #56 to find the reference to "Carogen Covered in Stardust."
When you see all the others listed with "Carogen" or "Stardust" in the
papered name of the dog, it appears those must have been two fine progenitors
in this particular dog's pedigree.
And now, the worst loss of all, my link for DOUG
THE CAT no longer functions! This ball of fuzz was a veterinarian's
dream come true...poor beast! The story was a tear-jerker, but CatDoug was
a survivor. Maybe he's now in cat heaven, if he had any more misadventures.
I'll try to find Joe Rossi's page to see if we can get this one listed again.
Think of it! Two dogs listed with Doug Paulson owners, and we have lost Doug
the cat! [Actually, I think I found the Joe Rossi, who had this page posted,
but now his website features himself, his music, poetry, and career aspirations.
If you want to see him, surf to his page, which has nary a mention of my old
pal, Doug the Cat.
So, all you who know of Doug Paulsons out there, let me know the URL of a
homepage that has them mentioned, pictured, satired, adored, or whatever!
I'll post a link for any Doug Paulsons that I find, and for any
just plain Dougs that pique my wierd sense of humor.
Though this page is dedicated to people named Doug Paulson, I really can't omit all the
other just plain Dougs out there! A great guy, name of Doug Adams,
went to the effort to create a Doug Page on the internet. He maintained
this for a number of years, but recently had to concentrate his time on other things.
A great big thank you to Doug from all us Dougs! Another of our Dougfriends, Doug
DeCota, took up the baton, and ran with it full speed ahead; thanks also to Doug
DeCota for continuing this valuable internet resource. Another key person for this
site is Doug Smith, who suggested it. They are all listed at the top of this page of
Douglinks. Now the "Page of Dougs" has a unique URL, making it even easier to locate!
Check it out! Dougs are a fun bunch of guys,
as you will see when you visit the site.
If I could get permission to use it, I'd close with a link to that Gary Larsen
cartoon with the big, hulking guy hiding behind a tree. Sign on the gate in the
picket fence-- "Beware of Doug." However, I have learned that Gary
Larsen does not like to have his material put up on the internet in violation of
his copyrights. Pretty reasonable idea, to my way of thinking! Perhaps if I would
ask him very nicely??? If I ever get permission, I'll place it here, where it
belongs. Meanwhile, keep smilin'!
VERY IMPORTANT REQUEST! --
If you know of any other Doug Paulsons
out there who have an e:mail address or a homepage, or are even listed on a
homepage, please, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!! send me an
e:mail with enough info that I can look him up and/or verify the accuracy of
either the hyperlink or e:mail address; and then I'll list him along with a
suitable (or unsuitable, as the case may be!) blurb. Just click on the
"direct comments to" link below to send an e:mail message from your browser.
