After a long wait, we finally have a home for the
material I have collected on family genealogy over a period of 50 years.
The pages on this site will be devoted to my mother's Harris and Pitman
family lines. The primary ancestors tracked into the past will be the
parents of my mother's parents -- her four grandparents:
William Jasper Harris, Jr., and his wife Jessie G. Freckleton;
Daniel Pitman and his wife, Mary Ann Boyack Pitman Wilson.
The first aspect of the site in process is a segment devoted to the descendants of our earliest known Harris ancestor, Isaac Harris, who was born in Brunswick Co., VA in 1729 (some have given the date as 1730).
I have been working with a distant cousing, Garda Hodgson, to put a book she has writted on the Descendants of Isaac Harris up on the internet in webpage format. As of August, 2004, she has completed all nine "Parts" of the book, and I have rendered them all into HTML formatting. However, there are still a number of edits, corrections, and possibly more additions to be done before it will be uploaded to the World Wide Web. When it's all ready, a link will be provided here.
It will take awhile before we can put up similar segments on the other lines tracing the ancestors for whom I have records [John Orr Freckleton, his wife, Jessie Gardner Freckleton, Daniel Pittman and his wife, Mary Ann Boyack]. Ancestors of the wife of William Jasper Harris, Martha Ann Smith, are on a site aligned with her family.
Here some links to other webpages I have worked on, from Homepage Helpers and Dixie College research links to an interesting page of links to an Internet Astronomy project that I assisted with a few years ago.

And here's where you can find my own "Instant HTML" website, the
Onkle Doug" pages, created initially to help a niece get started with her own website. Now she and others who have used it have far outstripped my abilities, but it's still handy for some folks. You can just copy off a few formats, and use them, plus the extensive set of graphic icons, lines, backgrounds, and whatnot that are there for the copying.

Finland, the Finnish Language and Finnish Customs.
There is a reason why I have developed this interest in Finland and things
Finnish. This link will let you know
when, why, and how long
I was in the lovely land of Finland.
