Despite popular belief I am not a College baseball hater. I
was born and raised in a city that had a MLB team &
as we know the Big Ten is not known for its baseball prowess.

After watching parts of games I have to admit that the product is not as flawed as I thought, but the aluminum
PING still haunts me. Maybe its the fact that one former catcher discussed how a foul ball from the metal mouchetes cracked his cup into 3 pieces. Quite possibly it could have been the confusion I endured when I saw UT/UGA battle to a 19-13 final or when Miami beat UT 21-13; was I viewing football or baseball scores??

What has impressed me about College baseball is the youth, enthusiasm, and passion for the game that these student athletes possess. I do have some suggestions for the NCAA to make the CWS more anticipated and accepted by the public:
Lose the aluminum monsters. 21-13 is not a baseball game, it is girl's softball (no offense ladies). The speed in which the baseball travels when hit by these death sticks can kill a pitcher, injure spectators, demasculate catchers, and make average players look phenomenal. Call me a traditionalist, but there is nothing sweeter than the crack of a wood bat.
I know what you are thinking, Jdon just wants to have another product that mirrors MLB. My response to such a statement, HELL NO!!! Remember tenderfoot, this is college athletics & I propose that each school has a band in attendance. That is what I miss, the sound of a school's fight song blasting when a kid jacks a home run or the crowd singing the words to their alma mater. Where they would put these bands, I do not know, but I am sure that something could be worked out.
Last but not least, where in the hell are the freaking mascots and cheerleaders??? Even MLB has their goofball mascot running around and inciting the crowd into a frenzy. Where was UGA when the Dawgs were in the series? Has anyone seen Herbie Husker?? And the cheerleaders. The bunch that cheers on their school to beat the opponent. I feel the game would have more excitement if the cheerleaders were in attendance. Hell, if basketball can do it, why not our national pastime?
