The Thief
Excerpt from the play “Ten Day Dallows”
The thief of light, clandestine she stealthy walks
And the lucent rays, helpless, to her enchain.
An aura the light creates, as she eternal stalks
So that she alone the shining thief remain.
She the light will steal, and for use her beauty,
And dost thou know if it be paralleled?
No. And being near her will thus undo me,
But to so do I am strangely still compelled.
Thief, one day will she, the only bright thing be,
And to see that resplendent fulgent being,
She which of lustrous be, may so thieve from me,
And I will all tomorrows go, without seeing.
