The Christmas Gift

 

1          Will thou expend: buy to procure,

2          A gift with which my love to secure?

3          Just something, (much need not be)-

4          That showéd thou art enamored with me.

 

5          Ah!

 

6          Perfection be, this thou token present,

7          Though not lavish bought, but heart-felt meant.

8          If enamor devised it worked as planned,

9          So takéth my gift: I give thee my hand.
