Late
Autumn Fate
The gravely ground does Fall our fate put,
As intransigent leaves who so wish not to fall.
Our love, in hue shown, would keep us well but-
Autumn for love, has regard none at all.
Alas as the leaves, must we be unyielding,
Till day come that which we together can-
Have in splendor and splendid tone revealing
A lovers fall that off fought the reapers hand.
Day by day by day our colors will increase
So that sanguine, for fate we are ready:
To lordly in display staidly decease
And as autumn leaves fall noble and steady.
