The Girl from the Hall

          Her aspect exalt, what figure enthrall,

          And her design so remains not opposed,

          That have she a beauty compared not at all,

          Which amorous to stare I'm disposed.

          Know her, not really, as she knows me not;

          Elusive and ethereal as air-

          Is she, this girl who in beauty is taught

          And who forces me from distance to stare.

          Continue will I, so far yet so close,

        To engrossed with her, ponder and look-

        At that girl from the hall, who leave lachrymose-

        A boy whose heart she beguiling took.
