Dance to Night

In the grace of night, I your hand took,

And placed its subjects in mine own

To stir when I in your aspect look:

That look to only lovers known.

       And looking so,

I saw in yours a so brilliant hue:

Those eyes of  ‘compassed maiden’s milk

And dark honest marble centered true,

Neath lashes of soft heaven’s silk.

Your waist endured my agile hands,

     Which together conquered nervous fright,

In concert performed a beloved dance

And moved to the tune of night.

     To peck, to trow,

The music ceased, and with it swayed

     Our aspects towards the either:

To find in lips, that love unbayed’,

                 Which unease beguiled neither.
