THE BLUES #2

Late at night
When I can't get to sleep
With my head a spinnin'
And my thoughts runnin' deep

I wonder if
I'll ever find love again
Someone to hold
A new place to begin

For what is love
That you need it so much
A tender smile
And a soft caring touch

Do you judge a man
By the clothes that he wears
Or by the warmth he wants
When he shows you he cares

It's a strange game we play
With those that we choose
Afraid to reach out
Lest our heart we lose

Lovers get hurt
By each other each day
The loss of self worth
By the tricks that we play

I've loved and I've lost
But I'm no less a man
I blame only myself
For the sad shape that I'm in

The mistakes I've made
Have cost me so much
But I'll be back again
Hoping for that one gentle touch
