JENKINS SCORES THE WINNING TD.......  OHIO STATE 21 - PENN STATE 20 IS COACH TRESSEL A MAGICIAN OR WHAT.......on a halloween weekend Ohio State once again performed their "rise from the dead" act as they rose from the ashes to win by a score of 21-20 when Michael Jenkins caught a short TD pass from backup quarterback Scott McMullen. It was the first lead for OSU since early in the first period and it was the second TD catch of the game for Jenkins. OHIO STATE WAS OUTPLAYED the whole game but Penn State coach Papa Joe Paterno seemed to get a little conservative in the 2nd half and his team responded by only scoring 3 points in the second half to help OSU pull this one out. KRENZEL's INJURY may have been the key play of the game as he was forced out of the game late in the second period, but, prior to the injury, he seemed to be missing the wide open receivers and he did throw an interception that was returned over 80 yards for a TD. Scott McMullen, on the other hand, came out throwing and looked to have a good rhythm. KUDO's TO THE DEFENSE.....after allowing the Penn State offense to score a touchdown on their first possesion of the game, the defense hung tough and only allowed two field goals the rest of the way. The OSU defense only allowed Penn St 33 yards rushing on 27 attempts. OSU RAN THE BALL WELL..........as once again Lydell Ross went over 100 yards on the ground for the second game in a row with 110 yards. He's rushed for more yards in the last two games then he has all season. NEXT GAME.......at home against Michigan State on November 8th. Kickoff time is 12:00 and it's on ABC TV. NOTES 1. OFFENSIVE NOTES.....OSU was 5-14 on 3rd downs - not good compared to Penn State who was 9-17. Ohio State was held to 301 total yards. 2. DEFENSIVE NOTES.........if there was one weakness to the defense......several times the defense got Penn State into 3rd and long situation and converted with a Zach Mill's pass. Thank goodness Joe Paterno chose to run on first and second down most of the game as Mills was HOT. 3. TID/BITs...........so do you think OSU fans are a little spoiled by Coach Tressel's success? OSU has now won 22 out of their last 23 games....and most of us are wondering what's wrong with the team this year. 4. DON'T FORGET THE CURSE OF BELLASARI.........Steve Bellasari is gone but not forgotten as he was a part of Tressel's first year of coaching...and what a part.........in games where Bellasari played, Coach Tressel is a PALTRY 6-5....in games he's coached WITHOUT BELLASARI PLAYING Coach Tressel is 23-1.....what a difference..........
