22 DECEMBER 2000 - GREENON LOSES TO KENTON RIDGE 62-60..............
The Greenon Boys basketball team came from 16 points down to take a lead in the 4th quarter only to lose to Kenton Ridge 62-60 at Greenon High School Friday night. Greenon was led in scoring by Marcus Franck with 29 points. Greenon's record for the year drops to 2-4 (1-2 CBC). Kenton Ridge improves to 4-2 (3-0 CBC). The Greenon Reserves won 49-45.


16 DECEMBER 2000 - CBC TO HAVE "NEW LOOK" NEXT YEAR................
The new CBC league for the 2001-2002 season will consist of twelve teams divided into two divisions:

DIVISION A: Tecumseh, Tipp City, Bellefontaine, Shawnee, Urbana, and Indian Lake.


DIVISION B: Greenon, Graham, Ben Logan, Kenton Ridge, Northwestern, and Miami East

15 DECEMBER 2000 - GREENON BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM DEFEATS NORTHWESTERN 62-45......
Greenon defeated winless Northwestern at Home Friday night 62-45. Greenon led 39-22 at halftime and never looked back. Marcus Frank and Josh Elliott led the way with 19 points each. Greenon's record improves to 2-3 (1-1 in CBC). The Greenon Reserve team defeated Northwestern in overtime 41-36.


14 DECEMBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES TO KENTON RIDGE 102-46......
Greenon jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead and then watched Kenton Ridge race to 40-6 1st quarter lead Thursday Night as they lost to Kenton Ridge. Nicole Hart led Greenon with 11 points. The loss drops Greenon's record on the year to 1-5 (0-3 in CBC). The Greenon Reserves also lost to Kenton Ridge by a score of 52-38. Leslie Clem led the way for Greenon with 11 points.


1 DECEMBER 2000 - GREENON BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES TO YELLOW SPRINGS 86-76......
Greenon almost overcame a huge 24-12 deficit but ultimately lost to Yellow Springs 86-76 in the 1st round of the Fairborn Tip-off Classic. Greenon was led by sophomore Alex Deady with 23 points. Greenon plays in the consolation game Saturday at 6:30. Greenon's record is now 0-1.


30 NOVEMBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES TO BELLEFONTAINE 47-32......
Greenon fell behind 13-4 and couldn't recover as they lost to Bellefontaine Thursday by a score of 47-32. Lauren Bahun's 12 points led the Knights who's record dropped to 1-2 for the year.


11 NOVEMBER 2000 - HAMILTON BADIN LOSES 4-1 IN GIRLS STATE SOCCER FINALS........
Hamilton Badin, which beat Greenon 11-1 in the State Semi Finals, lost to Walsh Jesuit 4-1 in the Girls Division II State Finals Saturday. Walsh Jesuit finished the season 21-0-1.


12 NOVEMBER 2000 - GREENON GIRL MAKES 1ST TEAM NEWS-SUN ALL AREA IN TENNIS.......
Greenon's Laura Culbertson continued raking in the post season awards by being named to the First Team News-Sun All Area Girls Tennis Team. She had already been named to the First Team All County Team. Congratulations, Laura.


8 NOVEMBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS SOCCER TEAM LOSES 11-1........
The Greenon girls soccer team concluded their season by losing to Hamilton Badin 11-1 in the State Semi finals. Greenon got behind early and was trailing at halftime 7-0. Greenon's only goal was scored by April Foster.


4 NOVEMBER 2000 - GREENON HAS CROSS COUNTRY STATE CHAMPION!!!!!!!........
Greenons Jacob McCauley won the Boys Division II State Cross Country Race Saturday by running a personal best 15:39 to win the Division II state meet Saturday at Scioto Downs. Teammate Josh Gilbert, who is only a freshman, placed 52nd in the state with a time of 16:46. In the Girls Divsion, Sophomore Amanda Husted, who was the areas lone representative in the Division II Girls race, placed 52nd with a time of 20:21.


4 NOVEMBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS SOCCER ADVANCES TO STATE WITH 3-2 VICTORY........
Greenon defeated Clear Fork 3-2 to advance to the State Semi Finals. Greeenons next game will be at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 8th at Cincinnati Winton Woods High School against Hamilton Badin. Hamilton Badin qualified for the state be defeating Cincinnati Indian Hill 3-1. Greenon had played and lost to Cincinnati Indian Hill during the regular season by a score of 1-0.


27 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM LOSES FINAL GAME 22-14....
Greenon lost it's final game of the football season to Urbana 22-14. Greenon trailed 15-8 at halftime and closed the gap to 15-14 after 3 quarters but Urbana hung on for the victory. Greenon finishes the season 4-6 (2-5 CBC). Bellefontaine ended up winning the last CBC League Title by defeating Shawnee 50-0.


26 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS SOCCER TEAM ARE DISTRICT CHAMPS!!..........
The top seeded Greenon Girls Soccer team survived a shoot out against Tipp City to win their Dstrict Final game by a score of 2-1. The game was tied at 1-1 after regulation, and after two scoreless overtime periods the contest went to a shoot-off. Amy Cordova, Lindsay Liming, and Kristen Wiland all converted their kicks as Greenon won the shoot out 3-2 when Greenon Goalie Liz Markley stopped the last shot by Tipp City with an incredible diving, one hand extended block. Next game is a regional contest on the road on Wednesday, 1 November 2000 at 7:00 PM.


21 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON BOYS SOCCER TEAM ELIMINATED FROM TOURNAMENT..............
The 2nd seeded Greenon Knights boys soccer team was upset by Shawnee 4-0 in a Division II District Quarterfinal match Saturday night at Greenon. Greenon had defeated Shawnee during the regular season 10-0. Greenon finish's the year with a record of 12-5-1 while Shawnee's record improved to 8-9-1.


20 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON TENNIS PLAYER ELIMINATED FROM STATE TOURNAMENT....
Greenon's Laura Culbertson lost her state tennis match to Maaria Husain of Marion Pleasant 6-2, 6-1 to finish the season with a 25-3 record.


20 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM LOSES TO KENTON RIDGE 20-8....
Once again the weather was unseasonably warm for the Greenon football game friday but tonight it was Kenton Ridge who warmed up with 2 long TD's to defeat Greenon 20-8. Greenon scored a TD on it's first drive when Cris Waddle ran in from 18 yards but was shut out the rest of the way. Kenton Ridge pulled away from an 8-8 halftime score as wide receiver Seth Tippie caught a 72 yard TD pass in the 3rd quarter and a 31 yard TD pass in the 4th quarter. Greenon's record for the year is now 4-5 (2-4 in CBC)and Kenton Ridge's record improves to 1-8 (1-5 CBC).


19 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS SOCCER TEAM WINS 1ST TOURNAMENT GAME..............
The Greenon Knights girls soccer team beat Urbana 5-0 in a 1st round matchup. Greenon hosts Kenton Ridge on Monday, 23 October in a 2nd round match.


16 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM ADVANCES IN TOURNAMENT....
The improving Greenon Girls Volleyball team eliminated Kenton Ridge from the Division II Sectional Tournament 10-15, 17-15, 15-11. Next game for Greenon is against Tipp City Wednesday at 6 PM at Tecumseh High School.


13 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM BEATS NORTHEASTERN 22-13....
On a unseasonably warm Friday the 13th, it was the Northeastern football team who had some bad luck as Greenon came from behind to win 22-13. Greenon trailed throughout the game until there was 2:14 left but Greenon scored 14 points at the end of the game to pull out the victory. Steve Leonard had two TD's for Greenon and Justin Wellman returned a kickoff 93 yards for the other TD. Greenon improved to 4-4 (2-3 in CBC) with the victory.


12 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON TENNIS PLAYER ADVANCES TO STATE TOURNAMENT....
Greenon's Laura Culbertson qualified for the Girls Tennis State Tournament. Congratulations Laura and good luck in the State Tournament.


7 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON TENNIS PLAYER ADVANCES TO DISTRICT....
Greenon's Laura Culbertson won the Girls Tennis Sectional Singles Title this weekend and will represent Greenon in the District Tournament. Laura was the number 1 seed going into the Sectionals as she was undefeated during the regular season. Congratulations Laura and good luck in the Districts!


6 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM LOSES HOMECOMING GAME 20-0....
On a crisp, cool night conducive to football weather the Greenon Knights offense came up short against Tecumseh 20-0. Tecumseh was able to score after two Greenon fumbles in the 1st half to take a 14-0 halftime lead. The loss drops Greenon's record for the year to 3-4 (1-3 CBC). Next game is at Northeastern on FRIDAY THE 13TH.


4 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS AND BOYS SOCCER TEAMS CLINCH 1ST PLACE.............
The Greenon Knights girls soccer team defeated Kenton Ridge 5-0 and the boys soccer team defeated Kenton Ridge 2-0 to clinch 1st place for both teams in the CBC. Both teams are undefeated in the CBC this year.

29 SEPTEMBER 2000 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM WINS 14-8..............
The Greenon Knights Football team showed some savy by scoring two touchdowns in the last 5 minutes of the game to defeat Northwestern 14-8. Steve Leonard scored the first TD with 4:56 left in the game and then Cris Waddle's 36 yard TD run with 2:28 left won the game for Greenon. The win improves Greenon's record for the year to 3-3 (1-2 CBC). Northwestern's record drops to 2-4 (1-2 CBC). Greenon's next game is at home on Friday, 6 October against Tecumseh - and it's also their HOMECOMING game.


23 SEPTEMBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS SOCCER TEAM BEATS CATHOLIC CENTRAL 6-2..............
The Greenon Knights girls soccer team beat Catholic Central 6-2. Greenon trailed 2-0 at halftime but scored 6 unanswered goals in the 2nd half to take the victory. Kristen Wiland scored 3 goals to lead the Knights. The win improves their record to 7-2. Next game is Monday, 25 September at home against Fairborn High School.


22 SEPTEMBER 2000 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM LOSES CLOSE BATTLE TO SHAWNEE 27-20..............
The Shawnee Braves scored a late touchdown to defeat Greenon 27-20. The score was tied at 20 with a minute to go but Shawnee drove 75 yards to win the game. Greenon's Deacon Minna scored 2 touchdowns and Chris Waddle scored the other touchdown. Greenon starting quarterback Ryan Linch was injured in the second period and did not return. Greenon's record for the year drops to 2-3 (0-2 CBC).


16 SEPTEMBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS SOCCER TEAM BEATS MIAMI EAST 5-0..............
The Greenon Knights girls soccer team beat Miami East High School Saturday night 5-0. Kristen Wiland led the offense with 2 goals. The win improves their record to 5-2. The Greenon Reserve Soccer team tied Miami East 1-1. Their record is now 2-2-2 for the year. Next game is Monday, 18 September at Wayne at 7:30.


16 SEPTEMBER 2000 - GREENON BOYS SOCCER TEAM BEATS DAYTON CHRISTIAN 6-1..............
The Greenon Knights boys soccer team defeated Dayton Christian 6-1 Saturday night. Greenon led 5-1 at halftime. Adam Tener led the way with 3 goals. Greenons record improves to 6-2. Next game is a home game Wednesday, 20 September at 7:30 against Tecumseh.


15 SEPTEMBER 2000 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM LOSES CBC OPENER 24-19..............
A gallant Greenon Knights football team battled a good Bellefontaine Friday night but came up short. Greenon was behind 6-0 at halftime but jumped out to a 13-6 lead before Bellefontaine rallied in the 4th quarter. QB Ryan Linch tossed TD passes of 35 yards to Michael DeBolt and 85 yards to Marcus Franck and Steve Leonard scored a TD on a 3 yard run but it wasn't enough. Greenon's record for the year drops to 2-2 (0-1 CBC) and Bellefontaine's record improves to 2-2 (1-0 in CBC). Next game is Friday, 22 September at Shawnee High School


13 SEPTEMBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS SOCCER TEAM BEATS NORTHWESTERN 4-2..............
The Greenon Knights Girls Soccer team improved their CBC record to 3-0 by defeating Northwestern 4-2. Jana Lee Strait, April Foster, Amy Cordova, and Carlsson all scored one goal to lead the offense. Next game is Saturday, 16 September at Miami East High School. Reserve game starts at 5:30 and Varsity game starts at 7:00.

The Greenon Knights boys soccer team defeated Shawnee 10-0 in CBC Action.


8 SEPTEMBER 2000 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM DEFEATS MECHANICSBURG 9-0..............
The Greenon Knights football managed to hang on and defeat Mechanicsburg in a defensive battle played on Senior Night at Greenon High School. Senior Steve Leonard rose to the occassion by rushing for 124 yards and scoring the only TD of the game in the 4th quarter to lead the Knights. Greenon led 3-0 at halftime on a Ryan Linch 24 yard field goal. Greenon's record improves to 2-1 while Mechanicsburg drops to 0-3 for the year.


5 SEPTEMBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS SOCCER TEAM BEATS BELLEFONTAINE 12-0....
The Greenon Girls Soccer Team played their first CBC game last night and defeated Bellefontaine 12-0. The Reserve Soccer Team tied Bellefontaine 0-0.


1 SEPTEMBER 2000 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM BEATS GREENVIEW....
The Greenon Knights Football team evened their record at 1-1 by beating Greenview 21-7. Greenon's next game is a home game against Mechanicsburg on Friday, 8 September at 7:30.


25 AUGUST 2000 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM LOSES OPENER....
The Greenon Knights Football team lost to a talented Fairborn team 35-7 in their opener. Fairborn jumped on Greenon for two quick scores to take an early 14-0 lead. Greenon then fought back to close the gap to 14-7 until Fairborn scored a touchdown on an 11 yard pass with just 11 seconds left in the half to take a 21-7 lead. That's how the game stayed until the last 2 minutes of the game when Fairborn surprisingly "ran up the score" against Greenon by running and passing for two scores at the end of the game. This reporter was shocked at their display of poor sportsmanship at the end of the game and that type of approach does not bode well for their long term chances this year - as the old saying goes : "What comes arond goes around". Greenon's next game is Friday at Greenview


9 JULY 2000 - ENON LIONESS GIRLS SOFTBALL TEAM ARE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!.......
The Enon Lioness Girls Fastpitch Softball Team (Ages 15 and under) continued their amazing run this season in the County Fastpitch League with an impressive 13-1 victory in the League Tournament Championship game. The win improves the Enon Lioness record for the year to 17-1. The Enon Lioness accomplishments for the season include 1st place in the County League, 1st Place in the Northwestern 4th of July Tournament, and 1st Place in the County League Post Season Tournament. 11 JUNE 2000 - TWO GREENON GIRLS SOFTBALL PLAYERS MAKE ALL-AREA..............
The Greenon girls softball team had two girls named to the 2000 News-Sun All-Area Softball Team. Lindsay Liming was named 1st Team in the outfield and Jessica Fletcher was named to the 2nd team as an infielder. Lindsay hit a whopping .481 for the year. Jessica hit .362 with 11 runs batted in while playing primarily at 1st base for the Knights. Congratulations to these girls who helped contribute to Greenon's 1st winning season (12-11) since 1988.


10 MAY 2000 - GREENON BOYS SOCCER COACH CHOSEN..............
Greenon High School announced that the new soccer coach for the Year 2000 Team in the Fall will be John Gibbs. Robert Gross will be the assistant coach to John Gibbs. Gibbs replaces Jim Wolfe, who in spite of a 1st and 2nd place finish in the CBC the past two years, was not chosen for a 3rd Year.


10 MAY 2000 - GREENON GIRLS VARSITY SOFTBALL TEAM DROPS SEASON FINALE..................
The Greenon Girls Varsity Softball team lost to Northeastern in the continuation of a game suspended earlier in the year by a score of 12-4. Greenon finishes the season 12-11 (6-8 in the CBC). Northeastern finishes the year 2-12 in the CBC.


6 MAY 2000 - GREENON VARSITY SOFTBALL TEAM LOSES TO SHAWNEE......
The Greenon girls softball team dropped their game Saturday to Shawnee by a score of 7-2. Greenon hitting stars were Chlesea Fyffe with two triples and Ashley Boldman with 3 hits. Megan Hughes pitched the entire game for Greenon. Greenon's record for the year drops to 12-10 (6-7 in the CBC) and Shawnee improves to 13-8 (8-6 in the CBC). Greenon's last game will be at home wednesday against Northeastern High School as they will be completing a suspended game played earlier in the season.


28 APRIL 2000 - GREENON VARSITY SOFTBALL TEAM EDGES URBANA..
The Greenon girls softball team won another close game by defeating Urbana by a score of 4-3. Greenon scored the winning run in the bottom of the 7th inning when Liz Cotrell doubled to lead off the inning and then Amy Karbasi was inserted as a pinch-runner and promptly stole 3rd base and scored on a single by Janet Berger. Offensive stars for Greenon were Teresa Thompson who contributed a Triple and Lindsay Liming who went 2-3. Liz Cotrell got the complete game victory for Greenon. Greenon's record for the year improves to 11-7 (5-6 CBC). Greenon hosts Northeastern Monday, 1 May, at 4:40.


20 APRIL 2000 - COUNTY SOFTBALL STATS INCLUDE SEVERAL GREENON GIRLS!!!!..
The Greenon girls softball team has exceeded all fans expectations this year by jumping out to a 10-4 record. The attached article lists all County Softball hitting and pitching leaders and it's no surprise that Greenon has several girls listed among the leaders list. Players on the list include Katie Carver, Lindsay Liming, Liz Cottrel and Teresa Thompson for their hitting and Amy Karbasi and Liz Cottrel are among the leading pitchers. 19 APRIL 2000 - GREENON VARSITY SOFTBALL TEAM NIPS BELLEFONTAINE..
The Greenon girls softball team continued their pattern of winning close games by defeating Bellefontaine Wednesday night by a score of 12-11. Greenon fell behind 6-0 and then incredibly scored all 12 of their runs in the 5th inning and held on for the victory. Senior Liz Cottrel gained the victory is relief of starter Amy Karbasi. Greenon's record for the year improves to 10-4 (4-3 in the CBC) while Bellefontaine's record drops to 6-6 (4-3 in the CBC).


19 APRIL 2000 - GREENON VARSITY TENNIS TEAM LOSES TO URBANA.
The Greenon Varsity Tennis team dropped a close match to Urbana 3 sets to 2. Greenon's record for the year is 1-5.


19 APRIL 2000 - GREENON VARSITY BASEBALL TEAM LOSES TO BELLEFONTAINE..
The Greenon baseball team lost to Bellefontaine Wednesday by a score of 11-2. Greenon jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead but a good Bellefontaine team exploded for 7 runs in the 3rd inning to come from behind for victory. Greenon's record for the year is now 3-9 (1-6 in the CBC). Bellefontaine improved to 10-3 (6-1 in the CBC).


15 APRIL 2000 - GREENON SOFTBALL TEAM SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER...
Greenon girls softball team improved it's record to 9-3 for the year by beating Oakwood 26-7 in the first game and winning by forfeit in the second game. Freshman Amy Karbasi pitched a complete game victory in the first game. Liz Cottrel, Katie Carver and Amber Overholser each had 3 RBI's the first game and Chelsea went 2 for 3. Greenon's next game is at Shawnee on Monday.


13 APRIL 2000 - GREENON DEFEATED BY KENTON RIDGE GIRLS VARSITY SOFTBALL TEAM 8-0...
Kenton Ridge Sophomore pitching sensation Molly Binz (Click for Photo) outdueled Freshman pitcher Amy Karbasi (Click for Photo)by a score of 8-0. Greenon managed 3 hits off of Molly Binz but were unable to score. Amy Karbasi pitched the entire game for Greenon and settled down after giving up some unearned runs in the first inning. Greenon's record for the year is 6-3.


10 APRIL 2000 - GREENON GIRLS VARSITY SOFTBALL TEAM ROUTES URBANA 14-2...
The Greenon Knights defeated Urbana High School 14-2 at Urbana. Greenon Freshman pitcher Amy Karbasi had another impressive outing as she only surrendered 2 runs in the first inning and then shut out Urbana over the final 6 innings. Greenon improves their record to 4-2 for the year (1-1 in the CBC).

The final Enon Soccer signup date will be April 15th from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon at the "former Merrills" on Dayton Road. Child must be 4 years old by 1 August 2000 and no more than 13 years old. Cut off birthday is 1 August 1986. Anyone born before this date is too old. Costs are: $30.00 and fundraiser or $60.00 cash. After April 17th, an additional $10.00 fee will be charged per child and there is no guarantee you will get on a team. Questions? 30 March 2000 - GREENON GIRLS VARSITY SOFTBALL TEAM IMPROVES TO 2-0
The Greenon Girls Varsity Softball team improved to 2-0 for the year with an 8-5 victory over Springfield North. Amy Karbasi pitched 4 shoutout innings for Greenon to begin the game and Megan Hughes finished the game. Greenon's next game is Saturday when they host Catholic Central in a double header beginning at 1:00PM. The Greenon Reserves dropped a heartbreaker to the North Reserves 21-20.

Freshman basketball player Marcus Franck was named to the All CBC 2nd Team. Marcus was the only player represented by the team this year.

26 Feb 2000 - GREENON BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES TO TIPP CITY IN TOURNAMENT
The Greenon boys basketball team lost to Tipp City Saturday night by the score of 64-42. Greenon only trailed by 28-20 at halftime but Tipp City pulled away and led 54-31 at the end of the third quarter and Greenon never challenged them again. With the loss a young Greenon team finishes the year with a 3-18 record. Freshman Greg Nickles led Greenon in scoring with 13 points, including a trio of three point baskets.


22 Feb 2000 - GREENON BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM TO PLAY TIPP CITY IN TOURNAMENT
The Greenon boys basketball team will play their first tournament game against Tipp City on Saturday, 26 February, at 8:30 PM at Troy's Hobart Arena. Come on out and watch them play.


19 Feb 2000 - GREENON VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES TO SHAWNEE 59-50
The Greenon basketball team hung tough most of the night but ended up dropping a close game to Shawnee 59-50. Greenon only trailed by two points late in the game but Shawnee was able to go 9 - 11 from the free throw line down the stretch to earn the victory. Greenon was trailing by a score of 46-33 after 3 quarters before the made their charge in the 4th quarter. Greenon was lead in scoring by freshman Marcus Franck with 16 points. Fellow Freshman Greg Nichols added 6 points. Greenon's record drops to 3-17 overall and 3-11 in the CBC. Shawnee's record improved to 11-9 overall and 10-4 in the CBC.


17 Feb 2000 - GREENON VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES IN TOURNAMENT 52-15
The Greenon Girls Varsity Basketball team lost a tournament game to a team that could very well end up as State Champion this year as they dropped their game to Chaminade-Julianne Wednesday night by a score of 52-15. Chaminade is the top rated school in the state for their division and proved they are worthy of their ranking by putting away Greenon. Chaminade led 29-7 at half time and was not challenged in the second half. Greenon was lead in scoring by Nicole Hart with 9 points. Greenon ends their season with a record of 3-18.


14 Feb 2000 - GREENON VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES TO NORTHEASTERN 50-43
The Greenon Girls Varsity Basketball team lost to Northeastern Saturday night 50-43. Greenon led at halftime by a 19 - 11 score and were still leading after 3 quarters 28-24 when Northeastern charged back to win. Greenon was led in scoring by Nicole Hart with 14 points and Holly Wolf with 12. Greenon record drops to 3-17 overall and 0-14 in the CBC.


14 Feb 2000 - GREENON GIRLS FRESHMAN TEAM NOTES
Greenon High School fielded a Freshman girls basketball team for the first time in years and the Freshman girls concluded their season with a 5-7 record. This was quite an improvement for a group of girls who as 7th and 8th graders were unable to accumulate that amount of wins. Congratulations to the girls and the school for fielding a Freshman team. Both the girls and the program ultimately benefit regardless of the won/loss record.


12 Feb 2000 - GREENON BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM BEATS NORTHEASTERN 57-42
An improving Greenon squad cruised to a 57 - 42 victory over Northeastern on Friday. Greenon led 25-16 at halftime and stayed in command the whole game. Freshman Marcus Franck again lead the Knights in scoring with 19 points, and Josh Elliot and Bryan Thompson each had 11 points. Greenon's record in the CBC improves to 3-9 and they are 3-14 overall.


9 Feb 2000 - INDIAN VALLEY 8TH GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM WINS TOURNAMENT!!!
The Indian Valley Redskins 8th Grade Girls basketball team cruised to an easy win over Reid by a score of 30-21 in a game played Monday night at Northwestern Middle School. The Redskins were ahead 21-2 at halftime and substituted liberally in the second half as the outcome was a foregone conclusion. The win capped a successfull season for the team - their only loss all year was to Kettering Alter by 3 points.


8 Feb 2000 - GREENON GIRLS VARSITY TEAM LOSES TO GREENVIEW 62 - 46
Host Greenon lost to Greenview Monday night 62-46. Leading scorers for Greenon were Holly Wolf with 20 points and Nicole Hart with 9 points. Greenon's record drops to 3-15 for the season.


8 Feb 2000 - INDIAN VALLEY 7TH GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES IN SEMI FINALS
The Indian Valley 7th grade girls basketball team lost their CBC Semi Final Tournament game to Northridge Monday night by a score of 40 - 19. Northridge will play Urbana in the finals. Urbana defeated Bellefontaine 48 - 47 in overtime to advance to the finals.


5 Feb 2000 - INDIAN VALLEY 8TH GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM ADVANCES TO TITLE GAME!!!
The Indian Valley 8th grade girls basketball team held off an inspired Kenton Ridge Team by a score of 28-22 to win their semi final tournament game Saturday at Northwestern's Middle School Gym. Kelli Hall converted two free throws with 8 seconds left to seal the victory. Kenton Ridge was looking for revenge in this game as they had been embarrassed during two regular season losses to Indian Valley. Kenton Ridge held the lead most of the game and still lead after 3 periods when the Indian Valley Team made their charge in the 4th period. Leslie Clem and Kara Englefield were both dominant forces in the 4th period for the I.V. squad and Lauren Bahun's ball handling at the end enabled the Redskins to run out the clock. Indian Valley advances to the title game Monday against the Reid/Urbana winner.

3 Feb 2000 - GREENON BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAMS BEATS NORTHWESTERN 56-52
Greenon, led by Freshman sensation Marcus Franck, defeated Northwestern Tuesday night by a score of 56-52. Marcus Franck of Greenon exploded for 36 points to lead the team in scoring. Greenon trailed at the half by 32-27 but came back to win. Greenon's record is now 2-12, and they are 2-7 in the CBC.


2 Feb 2000 - GREENON GIRLS VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM TO FACE TOP RANKED TEAM IN TOURNAMENT
The Greenon girls varsity basketball team will play Chaminade-Julienne in their first round tournament game this year on Wednesday, Febuary 16th. The game is scheduled to be played at Vandalia at 5:30PM. This is a tough draw as Chaminade is the number 1 ranked team in the state.

Can you say 94%? Nicole Hart of Greenon can. In her last 10 games, Nicole has become a sensational free throw shooter as she has converted an amazing 34 of 36 freethrows. There are very few NBA players who can shoot at that clip!!!. Congrats to Nicole!!!!

A gritty Greenon Girls team played from behind most of the way but played their best in the 4th quarter when it counted most as they defeated the Bellefontaine team. Stacie C.'s offense and Sarah D.'s defense sparked the Lady Knights in the last period. Next game is a home game against Beavercreek on 3 Feb 2000.

A young Greenon boys basketball team continued their struggles with a 76-51 loss to first place Bellefontaine Friday night. Greenon hung tough for the first half, trailing only 27-20, but in the second half Bellefontaine pulled away for the victory. Greenon was lead in scoring by Josh Elliot with 21 points and Freshman Marcus Frank chipped in with 15 points. Greenon's record drops to 1-11 overall and 1-7 in the CBC.

In a close game the Greenon girls varsity basketball team lost to Northeastern 41-40 when Northeastern converted a 3 point play in the final two seconds of the game. Greenon was lead by Holly W. with 14 points and Jessica K. with 12. Greenon's record drops to 2-5 for the year. The Greenon Reserves won their game 34-20 and were lead in scoring by Jodie S. with 14 points.

The Greenon Knights were outmanned by a veteran Northwestern squad Friday night and lost 69-43. Greenon hung tough with the Warriors and only trailed 31-21 at halftime. Leading scorers for Greenon were Hays with 13, and Thompson and Elliot with 10 points. Greenon's record drops to 0-4 for the year, 0-2 in CBC League Play, while Northwestern improves to 2-1 (2-0 in CBC.) Next game for Greenon is Dec 21st at Kenton Ridge.

10 Dec 99 - GREENON GIRLS VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES 55-20
The Greenon girls basketball team lost to undefeated Northwestern by a score of 55-20. The two teams were tied after one period but the veteran Northwestern squad pulled away from Greenon in the 2nd period to provide them with their 4th win of the year against 0 losses. Greenon's record drops to 1-2 for the year. Heather L. led Greenon in scoring with 6 points.


6 Dec - GREENON GIRLS FRESHMAN BASKETBALL TEAM WINS 32-30
The Greenon freshman girls basketball team continued their surprising season by defeating Bellefontaine 32-30. Margo S. sank a free throw with 3 seconds left to help lift the Knights to their 2nd consecutive victory of the year against only 1 loss. Next game is a home game on Tuesday, Dec 14th. Game time is 5:00 PM.


4 Dec - GREENON BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES OPENER TO FAIRBORN 64-34
The Greenon boys basketball team lost to Fairborn in the Fairborn Tip-off classic by a score of 64-34. Greenon was down 30-19 at halftime and never recovered. Josh Elliott led Greenon in scoring with 15 points.

The Greenon Girls 9th grade basketball team encountered a tough, quick shawnee squad and lost 43-4. Ashley S. played a solid game at point guard but Shawnee outshone them on this day. Next game is at Greenon on Saturday, 4 Dec at 10:00 AM. against Tecumseh High School.

11 Nov 99 - GREENON HONORS FALL SPORTS TEAMS AT AWARDS BANQUET
The annual Fall Sports Awards Ceremony was held on Wednesday, 10 Nov 99. This year there was much to celebrate; on the girls side the Cross country team qualified for the state, the soccer team was regional runnerups and league champs, the tennis team went 14-4 and had three regional qualifiers. On the boys side, the soccer team was district runnerup and the football team had a fine 7-3 record. Click here to see photo of girls tennis singles players receiving their trophies at the ceremony. These three girls combined for an impressive record of 39-3 in CBC League play this year and they all were regional qualifiers.

31 Oct 99 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM CONCLUDES SEASON BY BEATING URBANA 42-7
The Greenon Knights finished their season in nice fashion with a convincing 42-7 defeat of the Urbana Hillclimbers. Once again leading the victory for Greenon was Mike Seifert who ran for touchdown and also threw a 31 yard score to Steve Leonard. Junior Steve Leonard also ran for 156 yards with two touchdowns. Greenon improves their record to 7-3 (5-2 in the CBC) while Urbana drops to 2-8 (2-5 in the CBC).
