Entry for August 19, 2006
This week I was reminded that we have to make sure to include the real world in our planning when we begin projects. We've been working on our WebQuests this week and, from what I can tell, they've been created with our upcoming school year in mind. The problem is the network environment at school (the REAL world). I went into school this week to set up my class and I went to run through my WebQuest for one of my colleagues and found that Questgarden was being blocked because of some content. I also found that it takes an act of a Supreme being to get those filters altered, so I am in the process of recreating the WebQuest on another hosting site that I know will go through. I'll be fine for the school year, but I just wanted to point it out to anyone intending to use theirs early in the year in case you need to make adjustments.
