The Cast of Characters, Part II

This is Kaji. He's Misato's boyfriend. He went to college with her and Ritsuko. He's very flirtatious and can really get Misato jealous. Misato had dumped him in college when she realized he reminded her of her father who she had hated so much. He arrives with Asuka and Unit 02 from Germany. He also was bringing the Adam embryo. He becomes a double agent to find out the truth. He's the first to uncover the lies of the dealings of Nerv. And Seele has their own agenda. Is he going down a one way street? Has he found out the truth in time?

This is Touji Suzihara. He's the Fourth Child. He first meets Shinji in his homeroom class. But when he realizes Shinji was the one piloting Unit 01, during the third angel attack, he gets very angry. His younger sister was injured from that attack. And so, he had to set him straight by punching him a couple of times. Of course Shinji didn't fight back because of his own problems he was dealing with. Damanging Shinji's ego, he begins to regret it when he sees an angel attack and Shinji is fighting poorly against the fourth angel. Touji and Kensuke get stuck in the middle of it. But Shinji's saves them, and becomes distracted.

Touji was chosen to pilot Unit 03, the American one. Unit 04 had disappeared with the Second Branch. So the US had brought this one to Japan. But during activation, it became an angel. The Evas are dispatched, but could fight the angel knowing there was a friend inside of it. They couldn't fight him. Shinji realizes that it is him at the last minute and refused to fight him. Gendo authorized the Test Dummy System to kick in; in which Shinji lost control of Unit 01. It went out-of-control and destroying it, causing Touji's accident.

This is the Supreme Commander of Nerv, Gendo Ikari. During college, he was a wild youth. He was always getting drunk, getting into trouble. Then he met with Yui. This woman had ideas he liked. So together they started the Eva projects. Then with Fuyutsuki he created Gehirn. The organization before Nerv. He's very sly. He uses people for his own means. He used his wife, his lovers, his parent organization, and even his son. He thinks his means are justified, to accomplish his goals. To allow humankind revolve, to manipulate it. He runs Nerv his way, even if the big guys disapprove trying to save humanity from itself.

This is the Vice Commander of Nerv, Fuyutsuki. He was a professor of the Tokyo 2 college where Yui and Gendo met. He was impressed with Yui's notes. And was surprised when Yui expressed that Gendo wasn't that bad. Well, now he's Gendo's closest friends and maybe perhaps the only one he can trust.

This is Kensuke Aida. He's Touji's best friend. He's a dreamer. He once went camping with Shinji. He pretended to be fighting a war and stuff. But that was when Shinji ran away from Nerv the first time. And they came pick him up. He's also in Shinji's class. Actually all the kids are. He really wanted to be a Eva pilot, but it never happened. And later during the war, he and Touji moved away. Most of the city was destroyed by then.

This is Kaoru Nagisa. The Fifth Child. When Touji and Kensuke left. Shinji was alone. Tokyo 3's economy was in ruin and everybody was leaving the city. Even Misato sent PenPen away. That's when Kaoru meets Shinji. They bond almost instantly. Karou understands his problems and takes advantage of the situation. Asuka had fallen into comatose, like her mother. So Kaoru became the pilot of Unit 02. He was able to adjust his sync ratio? This puzzled Ritsuko. But then realized, it was too late. He was the 17th Angel, Tabris, the angel of free will. He controlled Unit 02 in a fight against Shinji piloting Unit 01. He made it all the way to Terminal Dogma and found out the truth and made a decision.

Hikari is the class rep in Shinji's class. She's Asuka's best friend. She has a crush on Touji. Touji doesn't notice her much because of all of his problems dealing with his sister, anger, and ect. She saw how Touji didn't have lunch one day so offered to cook him lunch. He approved. She's very responsible and a good leader. Asuka would spend her days at her house when she would be depressed.

This is Penpen, Misato's penguin. She got him when she was a teenager. She was with her father at the expedition in Antartica before Second Impact occured. Penpen escaped with her. He's pretty smart knowing what goes on around the house. He loves to take hot baths and usually is always in the bathroom, watching TV, or just starring at what Asuka and Shinji is going to do next.

This is Maya Ibuki. She's Ritsuko's assistant. She get's married in the series. She's one of the three technicians who help control Nerv central. She's pretty good, but nobody beats Ritsuko. She has a head on her shoulders, and starts to doubt Ritsuko for the future plans for Nerv.

Update: February 2002

I've just seen the movie. I had downloaded it from the internet. It was very extreme. I'm glad that I waited so long to see it. This movie really tore me up. But not as bad if I would have watched it after watching the series. I remember reading the script and knew how it would go. But the ending is what you make of it. Sort've like "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". The ending is left not finished. I still wished it would have been more positive. I know with the direction, there was no other way. But that's the trick about writting. To have an event to totally change the direction of the story. But I guess it was too hard for them to change their "destinies". All in all, again, watching it made me learn more things about myself; again, just like the series.
