12-12-03 We have no Rights!! Have you ever stopped to think that maybe we don't actually deserve our fundamental rights because, in truth, they aren't really that fundamental? You know these "rights" didn't exist until some random guy decided they did. For hundreds of thousands of years, nobody had the right to life, and most people didn't mind even if they didn't know any better. Then somebody was like, hey we should fundamentally be allowed to be happy and to live. Everyone thought he was a crazy anarchist. Then we built a country based on those ideas. We wrote a constitution we believe to be a universal truth. We unfailingly believe the personal ideas of a few random men to be the ultimate good and the only sure thing in our world. We scoff at blind followers of religion who believe what they're told and worship a deity they don't know exists, unable to see that, as a nation we do the same- memorizing and upholding our holy text of a constitution- fighting for it and spending beaucoup bucks on lawyers to prove it for us. You can't bash followers of religion and then complain about your constitutional rights being violated. The beliefs of the country are even more insubstantial because they aren't hidden in the obscurity of thousands of years of history and because we know they are man-made. Ultimately rights are man-made ideals believed to be God-given facets of life. They don't exist.
