Audience shot with an unknown type of digital video
camera. The video was first recorded to DVD on a
standalone burner, then edited on a pc to add in
menus and a different audio mix. The video quality
is great, it's shot a bit far back and the camera
gets shakey at times but everything is very clear
and well lit. Audio is also very good, mixed from
the camera audio and another DAT source into a
regular stereo stream and another in Dolby Digital
5.1. Distributed labeled as "Pearl Jam & Friends"
because there are many guest stars.
The first disc is an acoustic set, on the Johnny
Cash cover (track 11) Lyle Workman plays guitar.
On disc 2, tracks 2 and 3 have Jack Irons playing
with the band. Tracks 5 and 6 have Jack Johnson
playing guitar. Tracks 7 and 8 are Chris Cornell
performing solo, one song from his solo album and
one Audioslave song. Tracks 9 and 10 are performed
by Pearl Jam and Chris Cornell, according to Eddie
it's the first time in eleven years that they did
Hunger Strike together. Tracks 11 and 12 have John
Frusciante with the band, and track 13 has all of
the guests except John Frusciante.
The taper stopped taping between some songs so
there are some edits throughout, though they are
pretty well done and it almost makes it look like
it was done with more than one camera. One edit
or authoring quirk occurs after the song Reach
Down, the screen momentarily goes blue while the
audio continues, this only lasts a second or two.
The menus are nicely done, made to look like a
newspaper with short reviews/descriptions and a
video clip that plays on the front page of each
disc. There is song and audio selection in the
menus of both discs.
