It hasn't been a long time that I have
been doing Karaoke. Only about 2 years, I started back a while
ago when my parents had asked me to go with them and my Uncle
Glen and Aunt Anne to a place called The Foreman's Club. It had
good food for great prices and had a cozy feel to it. All the
people that went there were very nice, and we grew close together
and started doing things outside of The Foreman's Club which made
it even better.
We met some great people there, Wayne and
Bonnie, Joe and Chris, George and Shirley to name just a few.
George was the karaoke host and Wayne and Joe would help him out...
it gave George a chance to mingle with the crowd and loosen people
up to get them up to sing and join in the fun.
My first night there we went for dinner
and I was able to watch George, Wayne and Joe set up the equipment...
and let me tell you, I can't remember what the food tasted like,
I was very anxious and nervous. I was ready from the get go and
though I didn't have any songs in particular picked out, I just
couldn't believe that I was going to be able to sing, and that
people were going to listen to me sing, and possibly if I was
really lucky... they might even clap!
My first song ever was 'Help Me Hold On'
by Travis Tritt, a slow ballad, I was shaking as I stared out
at the crowd... but somehow I felt that this was right. After
the song I did get an applause and that was it! I was hooked...
nobody needed to twist my arm to get another song up there....
the next song I did was 'Your Song' by Elton John. I did a couple
more songs that night, I can't really remember which one's...
but you can be sure that this became my hangout for months to
come. It's funny that The Foreman's Club would become my first
Karaoke Hosting job... but I'll save that for another story.
