Believe it or not, it's only been about
2 years since I have been singing karaoke. It's been quite a bit
longer than that since I've loved to sing. I can remember way
back to when I was just a kid, at Christmas time... we would always
have family get togethers...this was my chance to shine! My cousins
and I would spend the whole day figuring out how we could put
on a great show for our parents and grand-parents. We would get
everything down pat, and usually someone ... or two ... would
chicken out at the very end. However, it didn't matter to me...
because 'The Show Must Go On'...I would shout! As I am thinking
back some performances stand out more than others, but all were
fun! I can remember doing 'The Girl Is Mine' duet with my cousin
Russell ( I was Paul McCartney ... because I am the BIGGEST Beatles
fan) and my cousin was Mr. Jackson because he not only loved all
his music but could dance up a storm just like him! I can also
remember a very bad rendition of Winter Wonderland, where I tried
'Oh so hard' to sound like Bing Crosby.
Musical influences surrounded me, you could
always find me listening to music, I went through a whole stage
of just sitting on my front porch with a Ghetto Blaster that my
Dad brought me home one day. I remember singing in my room to
albums of The Beatles. I once claimed to know over 50 Beatles
songs off by heart, that I could sing without any music. I doubt
I could do that now. I love to sing... I've always loved to sing.
So you can see why I love coming out to sing with everyone in
the karaoke family as much as I can.
