| .... conTRast was formed by D* (me) & Dal at the beginning of 2000. D* (who has a weird habit of talking to strangers on the train from time to time) met Fin at a train station a few months later, and then began jamming with her. Fin had just sold her bass, & bought a guitar, but her sister, Ciz, was a drummer. So we had a few fun jams, playing various girl cover songs, aswell as some of mine. I then taught & recruited my pal Jo to play bass. The first time conTRast took the stage was at the Charles Cryer in Carshalton, May 2000. A 3-song burst for an audience of a&r ppl & suspicious family & friends. The original line-up was D*(guit/vocal) Dal (guit) Ciz (drums/vocal) Jo (bass). |

| After a making a sketchy demo on tape, & a few more practices, Jo went travelling, & we recruited Fin to take her place, on the condition that she was no temporary replacement! We lined up our first gig for the end of January 2001. Dal decided to quit around 3 weeks before the gig.... We decided to do it anyway, & adapted some of the songs to suit us our new line-up. We toyed with the idea of getting another guitarist, but our practice room was only just big enuf for us! We got better with each live performance, & as experience was gained, our music bloomed. |

| That year we played the cartoon, (Croydon), the Half-Moon (Putney), & Nescot art college a couple times each. We had many things happen on our journey & met some interesting people in other local bands, (as well as some not very interesting people). At some point Ciz started to get an itch, and decided to leave in September. We played one of our best gigs at the cartoon that month. After failing to find a drummer after a couple of months, I decided to call it a day. We all learnt a lot together & share many fond memories. The music reached people on a personal level, as people still remember our band today. I have continued to write music on a personal level, & will see you all out on the long road to the middle! Fin and Ciz are both still playing and you can find out about it on www.ciaralavers.com. We also started a covers band together, with my pal (guit/vocal) Miriam, but was short-lived and never ventured out of the rehearsal room.
