Frequently asked -Q&A

WHERE CAN I BUY THE GOD MACHINE CDS/VINYL???
I bought my copy of 'One last laugh in a place of dying' on cd in 1995 in Select-a-disc, a record shop in Soho, that was while ago, but 2nd hand record shops are worth a try, I got TGM 'Ego' single 12", and 'Desert Song' Ep LP, from charity shops for no more than 1 each!  It took awhile to find them, but if you're short of cash it's worth it! Ebay is of course now the centre of the entire hard-to-find-record-fucking-universe.
you can also try the god machine mailing list [email protected]

What are the remaining members of TGM up to nowadays?
Last I heard both Ron & Robin were living in London. Ron is involved in writing, directing and producing films, and finished a short film (40 mins) called, 'The trinity tower'.
Robin is still in the music biz, he runs a label called 'The Flower Shop', whose bands include Elevate, Ligament, Rosa Mota & Swervedriver. Robin also produced a few of the albums. In 1996, Robin formed a new band called 'Sophia'. They released their debut 'Fixed Water' in November (96). They are still together, releasing albums regularly. They are a collective of musicians, and play mainly acoustic music with the quality of tunes you expect from the man.
Former Society Line member Albert Amman last known living in Seattle, working in software, still plays music and puts out tapes

Where can I find live recordings or videos?
Apart from 'Home' and 'She said'  no live versions of TGMs songs were ever released. There are some live tapes floating round the globe. There's definatley a video to Home and to 'the devil song' (off one last..) AND U CAN SEE THIS VID FOR YOURSELF AT THIS SITE at one point mtv have played that, and some short clips of 'Commitment'. In March 1993, MTV had TGM on a mini-special '120 minutes'.

What is said at the beginning of 'Dream Machine'?
This converstaion is taken from Bertolucci's 'The sheltering Sky', (1990) based on the novel written by Paul Bowles. It has also been used by band Neurosis in the song 'Lost'.
'Are you lost?' 'Yes' 'Because we don't know when we will die, we tend to think of life as an inexhaustable well. Yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, and afternoon that was so important that you can't even conceive your life without it. Perhaps four or five times. How many more times will you see the full moon rise, perhaps 20, not even that. And yet it all seems so limitless.

Where does the intro to 'Home' come from?
The sample used comes from a song called 'Pilentze Pee', performed by the Bulgarian 'folkloristic' group Le Mystere Des Voix Bulgares.

Where does the sample in 'The desert song' come from?
This sample comes from an old tv show called, 'The Hurting Church'.
