It will continue to address the PSSA standards in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing, with the emphasis on Writing Workshop. It will instruct students in strategies and skills employed by effective authors.
Throughout the above-mentioned themes and during Writing Workshop, students will be instructed in Grammar, Punctuation, the Writing Process (Narrative, Informative and Persuasive styles), Literature (Lit Circles), Poetry, Imagery and Figurative Language, Vocabulary, Spelling, and Research.
In addition to stories in the Literature Book, students will be using some of the following: Where the Red Fern Grows, No More Dead Dogs, Greek and Roman Mythology,
Poetry, Freak the Mighty, etc.
