Day 21 Friday, July 8th
Up the California coastline we went today. Highway 1 is just amazing. We twisted and turned along the shoreline for about 175 miles with our eyes darting from the road to the ocean and back again. California really is a beautiful state. Ive never before seen the ocean to my left and a bunch of cows grazing on a ranch to my right within a span of a couple thousand feet. The Pacific is full of beautiful shades of blue. It looks as if the ocean just fades into the clouds away from the shore. Its so windy on the coastline that the trees grow with a slant. It was slow going today as the roads were so curvy -- we probably only averaged a speed of about 35 mph. We stopped in Bodega Bay for lunch at a restaurant right on the water. Had some very tasty and very fresh seafood. We stopped in Gualala for some gas and a few shore side pictures. Were holed up in Ft. Bragg, Ca. tonight still tired from our walking tour of San Francisco yesterday. Were having our own in-room party this Friday night. Hope you all have a nice weekend. Oregon is the goal tomorrow. |
