Day 16 -- Sunday, July 3rd
Up early and out the door by 7:30 AM to tour Antelope Canyon. It was absolutely incredible (as you can tell by the many, many pictures taken). Thanks for the tip Mike and Theresa it was really an awesome experience made even better by our new friend, El, the tour guide. He seemed to take a shine to Justin and I and pointed out many wonderful spots for picture taking. He was just full of interesting tidbits and made the tour a lot of fun. After our fabulous experience at Antelope Canyon we decided to skip the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and just make some tracks today we were hoping to make Las Vegas. We headed back down Route 89 and rode through the hot, hot rocks for a long time. We passed through Marble Canyon, the Vermillion Cliff Dwellings and more fabulous scenery. We decided to go through Zion National Park in Utah and that was a great decision. It too was just breathtaking. Once we got through the park we headed for St. George, Utah and by the time we got there we were just too hot to keep going. 200 miles under our belts and Vegas is only another 120 miles away but we decided to grab a room and cool off. Well be up early again tomorrow as were hoping to beat the heat and get to Vegas early. I gotta tell ya Im really over all this 100 degree plus weather. I miss Maryland! |
