Day 5 Wednesday, June 22nd
476 miles today! We traveled from Bellevue, Tennessee to Clinton, Arkansas the long way. We decided to go see some friends that live in Arkansas because it didnt seem too far away from where we were but thats if you take the interstate. Not much scenery today as most of the roads we took were flat -- except for the mounds at Hooters. We rode through Tennessee forever what a wide state from east to west! We left at 11:00 AM and didnt get out of Tennessee until 5:30 PM. Then into Missouri for about 20 minutes. One comment there why is the Missouri state line in the middle of a bridge that crosses the mighty Mississippi? Lots of farm land. Into Arkansas more farm land and lots and lots of roads that look exactly the same. We wandered through Arkansas for the rest of the day and well into the night. Of course by the time the sun went down we were in the mountains. Quite an adventure meandering through the mountains in the dark. Finally we found our friends and got off the bikes at 11:30 PM. Far too many hours in the saddle today but every mile of the journey was well worth it when we connected with friends we hadnt seen in more than a year. Thanks Fish & Boo Boo for waiting up for us and then staying up with us till 2 in the morning catching up. We love you guys. |
