Day Thirty-Six
Denver
Day 36 Saturday, July 23rd
What to say about today . . . it was hot, windy and really rather boring.  We took off from Loveland this morning and it was already 97 degrees.  We opted not to stop at the Denver Harley place but instead to try and make it to Dodge City, KS.  We snapped a picture of the mile-high city and went around it.  By the time we went through Hugo, CO it was 102.  We continued on to Kit Carson, CO riding sideways again due to the wind and learned it was 112 there.  The southeastern part of Colorado is certainly not as noteworthy as the mountainous part.  In fact its just flat, windy and hot.  Our journey did not get any more exciting once we crossed the Kansas state line.  Lots of farms and stinky cows.  To add insult to injury, we did not make Dodge City.  We traveled 350 miles and made it as far as Garden City, KS.  It was already 8:30 PM by the time we found a room.  We did have the foresight to call the Dodge City dealership and let them know we were trying to get there before they closed.  When we figured out we were not going to make it, Mr. Smooth called them again and talked the nice lady into leaving a shot glass, dealer pin and tee shirt in the mailbox for us.  They were fine with leaving the booty and letting us slip money under the door in an envelope but JDawg paid for it over the phone with a credit card instead.  Now we just have to hope that nobody checks the mailbox before we get there tomorrow.
AAHHHH....Remember when..........
