Day 35 Friday, July 22nd
Wow what a day! We did a couple of hundred more miles today almost all of it through the Rocky Mountains. It was beautiful snow-capped mountains, wildflowers, gorgeous lakes, roads winding along rivers, waterfalls, elk in the valley and rain. Justin realized his high school dream today riding through the Colorado Rocky Mountains on a Harley (with a 6-foot blonde too). We thought we were going to stop in Estes Park for the night but finding any place with air conditioning turned out to be an impossible task. We traveled 30 more miles through Roosevelt National Forest (and boy was that pretty except for the loose gravel and fresh oil) and ended up in Loveland, CO.
Now we begin the last week of our journey. Its east from here and into the continuing heat wave. Were hoping to visit a few friends on the way home and to be home by Friday night. Were both looking forward to seeing everyone back in Maryland. |
