Day 20 Thursday July 7, 2005 (Dawg entry)
Today was a down day, time for service. We have to take care of our machines if we want to get back home. We started the day early by dropping off our bikes at Dudley Perkins Harley-Davidson, the worlds oldest Harley dealer. From there we walked through the best parts of San Francisco, NOT. We passed many of San Franciscos most famous homeless shelters on our way to Market Square. We found a nice mall to shop in and get some lunch. After lunch we headed back to check on our bikes. They were not done so we hoofed it again to another dealer with more apparel. After some more shopping and a quick stop to mail back our goods, we finally got our babies back. Off again on two wheels, we headed through Golden Gate Park to the coast line. Once there, we found some nice people to snap our proof of Left Coast arrival. Then we headed back to the hotel by way of Lombard Street, the crookedest street in America. What a ride! Very slow and very twisty. I tried to get Bounci to get some air on those steep San Fran streets. She advised against it, probably saving my life. I saw them do it in the movies. We put the bikes away for the night and walked, again, along Fishermans Wharf. We found a nice restaurant and had some good seafood and a bottle of wine finally a proper belated birthday dinner. When we got back to the hotel we passed out from exhaustion or too much wine, or a combination of both. Tomorrow its up the coast. |
