D.A.R.E.
In 1990 the Mountain Grove Police Department introduced the D.A.R.E. program, (Drug Abuse Resistence Education), to the Mountain Grove School District.

From it's beginning in 1983 the D.A.R.E. program has proven so successful that it has expanded into hundreds of communities, 49 states and several foreign countries.  Teachers, school administrators, parents and students report positive results directly attributable to D.A.R.E. instruction.

Long Term Goals Of The D.A.R.E. Program Include:

1. A reduction in the supply of controlled substances as a result of reduced demand.

2. More positive identification with police officers.

3. Improved decision-making in all life situations.

4. An overall reduction in criminality.

The D.A.R.E. program is available to the sixth grade level students at the Mountain Grove Middle School.  D.A.R.E. will begin in the middle of the school year.
