| Kelci buried her face into the pillow, desperately clinging to sleep as the bright sun tried to penetrate her eye lids. She groaned and eventually got out of bed. It took her a second to remember where she was. Oh, JC's house. She smiled and straightened the bed, replacing the strewn pillows in their spots. She rinsed her mouth with some Scope then managed to tame her unruly hair a bit and straightened her wrinkled clothes some before heading downstairs. Her watch showed 9:47 a.m. and she found Tyler wolfing down Cheerios in the kitchen. "Good morning," he grinned with milk on his chin. "Good morning, Ty." "There's coffee in the pot and cereal on the counter. Help yourself." "Thanks." She poured herself coffee and sipped it as she stood at the counter. She wondered where JC was and finally asked Tyler. "Inspiration hit so he's at the studio since his downstairs isn't finished yet." "Oh, I see." "I told him I'd drop you off at your hotel...if that's OK with you." "Thanks. That'd be great," she smiled gratefully. Twenty minutes later, his flashy Porsche stopped outside her hotel. "Thank you, Ty. See you on Wednesday." "If not before," he grinned. "I'll make sure JC sees your note." "OK. Thanks again. Bye!" ****************** JC finally left the studio at 2 a.m. and headed home, exhausted. He'd woken that morning with Kelci in his arms and this undeniable rift running through his head. He'd immediately sung the beat into the mini-recorder he kept by the bed then the words just came to him and he couldn't stop himself, arriving at the studio before he even thought about it. Now, as he entered his house, he wished Kelci was there to run into his arms and welcome him home. But she didn't. He trudged upstairs, tossing a haphazard greeting to Ty and the blonde on the couch. He fell across his bed and kicked off his shoes. Paper crinkled under his chest as he moved and he pulled it free. He flicked on the bed-side lamp and opened the envelope. It smelled like her and he smiled as he opened a piece of the white stationary paper he kept on his desk. Josh - I had fun last night. Thank you. Sorry I conked out on you, but I'm happy to know you are writing. I am a fan, remember? Ha. Anyway, I'd like to see you again before Wednesday, if possible. Well, you have my number so call...if you want. Thanks again. - C Immediately he dialed her number, forgetting what time it was. Finally she answered groggily on the fourth ring, "Hello?" "Hi, C." "Josh? What's wrong? Are you OK? It's almost 3 a.m." "Sorry. I didn't think about the time." "No, it's fine. What can I do for you?" she smiled as she stretched on her hotel bed. "I just read your note and wanted to call so you didn't think I wasn't interested. I had fun last night, too. You are very easy to talk to.' "Well, sir, YOU are quite easy to snuggle with." "Oh, really?" he laughed as she giggled. "Guess I had too much wine after a long day." "It was cool." "So...will you tell me about your song? Give me the inside scoop?" "Nope. Sorry." "Well..damn," she laughed then grew really quiet, gathering courage for a full minute. "Um..Joshy?" "Yeah?" "You wanna get together tomorrow evening? I have junkets all day and will need to wind down." "I'll clear my schedule," he joked and she laughed. "OK, Mr. I'monvacation." "Do you want to go out or stay in?" "Go out." "OK, where to?" "It's a surprise. Wear jeans, a t-shirt, sneakers, and a hat. Oh, and could you see if maybe one of your guards could come, too. Rock doesn't think it'd be safe with just him." "Sounds like a plan. What time?" he asked, truly excited about their date. "My last junket is scheduled for 6:45 and I'll need to chance so....8. Is that OK?" "Perfect. Do you need me to drive?" "No, Rock has a car out here," she smiled in the darkness. "Um...If you give me your phone number, I can call you when we are on our way." "OK. Got a pen?" She laughed, "No. Could you send it over my 2-way?" "Sure, C. No problem. I'll let you get back to sleep. Sounds like you got a big day tomorrow." "Yeah. I'm glad you called though.' "Awe. You're sweet." "Well, good night, Josh." "Good night, C. Sweet dreams." He couldn't stop smiling as he hung up and clicked off the lamp. Sleep came not long after and he dreamed of her. |
