| "Please welcome Kelci Andrews." The crowd cheered as Kelci appeared and waved as she headed to greet Rosie O'Donnell. They exchanged pleasantries before both took their seats and the crowd finally died down. "Welcome." "Thank you and I must say I am a huge fan who'll miss you immensely," Kelci stated sincerely as she squeezed Ro's hand. "Well, thank you. I'm going to miss doing this show, but want more time with my kids." "That's understandable." "What about you? Any kids in the near future?" "Not that I'm aware of," Kelci joked and cracked everyone up. "Honestly, there isn't even any Dad prospects." "Really?" "It's just not easy to meet people who aren't lookin' to get into the business or further their own career. I just haven't found the right person yet and it's hard because I go on location for months at a time. I was just in France for four months." "Well...I think you would look adorable next to a friend of mine. Have you heard of NSYNC?" Kelci laughed, "Yes, I don't live under a rock." Both laughed now and Rosie continued, "I happen to know that one of them has just broken off a relationship and two others were single." "They seem like nice young men." "You've never met them?" "No, but I enjoy their music." "I'll give you JC's number." "Um....wh...no," Kelci fidgeted in her chair. "Why not?" "Quite honestly....I've never called or asked a guy out. What if he's not single? Or interested?" "Trust me, he is." "Um...well...OK..I'll give you MY number for you to pass on and he can call IF he's interested." "Sounds fair enough. We're gonna take a break and we'll be back with Kelci Andrews," Rosie smiled into the camera then turned back to her guest. "You've seriously never asked a guy out?" "I just...I don't know...It's scary tome." "Well I'm going to see if I can hit his 2-way right now." "Oh, man...OK..Do it," she finally agreed once she'd gathered some courage. "I feel like I'm in grade school again calling boys to see if they like my friend." RoDon: Hey, JC! Spazzman: JC's asleep, but we're watchin' RoDon: OK. Who's this?" Spazzman: Tyler and the guys. Hi, Kelci. RoDon: Take down Kelci's # for him. 580-659-4568 Spazzman: I saved it and Lance is trying to wake him. Does Kelci have a 2-way? RoDon: Yeah, KelAnds. Show's on Kelci sat back in her chair as they came back from commercial and they chatted about her new movie. The 2-way kept chiming in and became quite distracting. The segment was finally over and the women parted ways. As soon as she'd collected her purse, both her 2-way and her cell phone went off. "Hello?" "May I speak to Kelci Andrews please?" a rather deep voice requested. "Who's speakin'?" "Lance Bass." "OK. What's up, Lance?" she asked not really believing it was him. "Well, we saw you on the show and wanted to invite you to our show." "OK." "See, JC is a little gun shy right now, but we feel you two could get along well. Your publicist said you don't have plans tonight. Would you come to Jersey to see our show? I'll send a car." "The car isn't necessary," she said as she headed out the studio doors and was greeted by some fans. Lance could hear all the excited chatter through her phone, most of which were well wishes about seeing JC. After several minutes, it got quieter and he heard a door shut. "Sorry about that, but I can't deny them." "I know what you mean. Listen, what are you doing now?" "Ridin' in the limo back to the hotel." There were mumbles on his end of the phone, but she couldn't make out what the different voices were saying. "Would you want to come to the stadium for lunch?" "Give me the phone," one of the voices stated with some anger. "Hi, Kelci." "Hi. Who is this?" "It's JC. Look...I know you were kinda forced into this and I appreciate Rosie's....push, but I'm honestly not looking to get into any serious relationship." "I..." "The guys just want to see me get out of this little funk and it's unfair to entice you when nothing is going to happen. I mean...it'd just be sex and I don't think you're into sex without love." "I..." "I have your number and I'll give you a call sometime. Again, I'm sorry about this. I'll make sure there are two tickets for you at the gate, if you still want to come." "I..." "OK. I'll leave them and you come to the show if you want," he stated and she could hear more muffled voices getting closer. "Look, I need to go." "OK." "Later." Kelci sat for a second and just stared at her phone. What a roller coaster ride. From zero to 60 and back in under two minutes. Her 2-way buzzed again. Rachisme: I'm waiting in the lobby. Have you heard from JC? KelAnds: Pulling up now. Less than 30 seconds later, Rachel was beside her and they headed across town for lunch. Kelci replayed as much of the conversation as possible and it seemed to stun Rachel almost as much as it had Kelci. "Do I have ‘commitment only' written on my forehead?" "No, girl. He's just trippin'. Probably doesn't want it to feel forced." "Neither do I. That's why I gave my number instead of takin' his. That way he could call if he's interested but it was Lance who called then JC took the phone and even sounded....angry." "Well...it's his loss, but I really wanna see their show," Rachel admitted. "Lancers is FINE!" "So do I. Guess we're going tonight, huh?" Kelci laughed. |
