.Projects.
As most of you know, this is a wedding with a very small budget. That means a lot of home-made projects, which I dont think is such a bad idea anyways, considering how much they want to charge for stuff! The set that I fell in love with was gorgeous but way too pricey and ultimately not my exactly colors anyways, so I am taking the general theme of them and applying my own color scheme and twist to them. You'll see what I mean...
.Completed.
The first project I completed was the champagne flutes for Casey and I. We bought a pre-decorated set for around $14 (on sale of course), ripped off the ugly white decoration and I added brown velvet ribbon, beads and a silver leaf charm. I think they turned out pretty damn cute! Below is a better picture of the detailing. All in all I'd say that it cost about $17 tops, the original set retails for about $55!
My second project was the guestbook pen base. We bought a plain penbase with simple white detailing for like $9 and I tore off the decorations and tired to replicate the design of the original. I am most pleased with how this one turned out, even though it took forever to get the certain ribbon textures figured out! All in all it was about $11 to complete whereas the original was around $55. (The same as the flutes! Can you believe it??)
.Working On.
Above is the serving set I am trying to duplicate, however it is very difficult finding a basic serving set to use! All of the ones in my price range are those acrylic crystal looking ones and I dont like them. Hopefully I'll find something soon to use!
Above to the left, is the first pillow I came across that comes with the set I am wanting to duplicate. It retails for $58! Above right and below right are photos of DIY pillows that I also like the design of. I figure I'll pull inspiration from all three and my finished product will look like a combination of them.
