So, Tuesday I went to check out Conrad hall for the first time and, to say the least, it was not AT ALL what I was expecting. I mean, it was like walking into a freakin 70's time warp. The chairs were that thick ass plastic and were green, orange and yellow. It totally reminded me of school cafeteria's back in the old days. Then, the whole back wall was this awful nasty ass dark, almost black wood. At first I was TRYING to be optimistic and tried to think of ways to make it work and look decent. Well, my brain over loaded and I wasn't coming up with much. Neither was my mom and that is not a good thing. So, we started talking about other options and I called around to a couple other halls, one being the other hall that St. Peter's church ownes. Well, it was over twice as much, and had a capacity for 600 people, which was a lot more than we needed, but if it looked better than the one we were originally going for, I didn't care. Anyways, all of the sudden (maybe because we came in with Zoey when we went to look at it) she starts asking if its a second marriage or if we were both catholic. So I told the truth, isn't that what you're supposed to do? Well, that didn't get me ANYWHERE. I should have lied out my ass. I was told that since it was a second marriage and a "mixed" (religious) marriage, they couldn't support it and we couldn't use the facility. SCREW YOU THEN! Thats so hypocritical! Peace, love...whatever. Only if it's following the way you think it should. Dont get me started. And I'll try to be calmer here than I was on my myspace blog. I'll just say that I dont need their facility. I dont want to have my wedding funds going to support a church like that anyways. I'd rather give it to a bar than them!
What really pisses me off about the whole thing is that there are SUCH limited choices open for me as far as reception sites go. There's the Gainesville civic center, who by the way charges INSANELY, but they are booked for the 3rd anyways. There's the Ramada banquet room, but I used to work there and sure as HELL dont want them getting any of MY money. There is the Callisburg community club which is NOT AT ALL a place to have a wedding reception. (Its very tacky inside.) And that leaves the KC Hall, which they have their phone off the hook or something because it's had a busy signal all freaking day long. My last hope is that the Comfort Suites that is just now getting finished up will have a banquet hall large enough and not cost too much. But I can't find a # for them anywhere. According to comfortsuites.com, there isn't one even in the area.
We'll see what happens....till then...
