2003-4: Head of Directed Research and Assistant Professor, Business Administration Division, Mahidol University International College. Charged with supervising directed research for students. Courses in preparation include Global Marketing Strategy and Ethics and Technology.

2002-3: Assistant Professor Marketing and Communication, Shinawatra University, Bangkok, Thailand. Courses taught include MC1001 Managerial Communications and MC1002 Communications in Research and Consultancy. Also preparing and teaching courses Managing Marketing and the Value Chain; Managing Human Resources; Gaining Value from Innovation and Introduction to Business Statistics. The Shinawatra University MBA Program features a student-centred approach to education which focuses on developing skills, critical thinking and problem-solving. It is unique in Thailand. The role of the teacher at the University is one that combines facilitator, personal developer and mentor, as well as more traditional roles.

2003: Taught Marketing Concepts for 31 Doctoral Students at Ramkhamhaeng University; acting as PhD Committee Chair for four doctoral students. Acting as external reviewer for Rajabhat Institute's new English language Business Administration degree course. Also taught various other courses at PhD, MBA and BBA levels.

In connection with the IRIC Report on Fairness, radio interviews on seven different Australian regional ABC and SBS stations, together with reports in The Australian and online news services.

In connection with the "Industry Spotlight: A Uranium Mining Industry for WA?" paper, interview conducted with ABC Perth radio station and two interviews with local 6NR radio station (concerning uranium mining and the competitiveness of the WA economy and with globalisation in Lao P.D.R.), together with coverage in The West Australian newspaper and the Stateline television programme.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

I am currently involved in a number of research projects both individually and in collaboration with research partners in a number of other countries. These include "A Comparative Study of the Competitiveness of the UAE, Brunei, Singapore, Switzerland and the Republic of Ireland," with Dr Gordon Smith and Dr John Wakefield of Zayed University, international business development in Shanghai, with Professor David McHardy Reid of Rochester Institute of Technology and a study of consumer behaviour in Shanghai and Bangkok, also with Professor Reid.

Other areas of interest include online learning and its applications, the economic history of the Tai world, competitiveness of the UAE, post-structuralist research methodology, labour market development and the social responsibility of organisations.
