Dependant on open savanna this antelope was on the brink of extinction because of hunting and the destruction of their habitat.  Today the outlook of the Tsessebe is much brighter because of different relocating programs.

They are dependant of a permanent water supply as well.  For their survival they rely mainly on their speed and agility.  A single calf is born usually during September and October.
