The Caracal is a large reddish brown cat with distinct tuffs of black hair on the tips of their ears. They are solitary animals that hunt alone. 

They are found all over South Africa in various habitats.

Their prey varies from small to medium sized animals. They would include mice, lizards, birds and  prey as large as Reedbucks.  Sadly, Sheep and Goats from farmers are easy prey and because of this they are hunted relentless by all farmers throughout South Africa.
