CLASS OF 63 - Class Reunion Group Meeting (Monthly) Remember When You Were 17?
Racial integration in Jefferson City, Missouri, creates friendships and binds a group of teammates through their senior year. Playing for the legendary Pete Adkins molds boys into men. The book gives Coach Adkins' storied 44-year coaching history, McMurry's high school and college football career and the intersecting of their lives through the years. McMurry includes Jay football highlights up to the 2006 season. In his 342-page book the author tells his stories to his eight grandchildren at family gatherings. The concluding chapter is a surprise birthday tribute to Coach Adkins from scores of former Jays. Gain insights into the lives of former athletes who fought the honor of the Red and Black and how one man impacted their lives forever.
Indicate if desired by return email or on the order form below to whom you wish the book(s) inscribed and I will be honored to make that inscription. Request for Help in Advertisement: Forever Seventeen is a self-published effort and marketing is a major part of the project. Could you forward this email to people in your address book who might have an interest in Jeff City, football and/or sports in general or simply love books? I would greatly appreciate your help. Publication will be by the first week of December. I plan to conduct a Missouri book tour to the cities mentioned above December 14-20. Ohio book signings will take place in early December.

June meeting is at Dan Basler's House just off of Highway 54, precisely 4.6 miles South of the intersection of Ellis Blvd. with Highway 54, on the East (left) side of the highway just before crossing the Moreau River bridge of Twin Bridges. The name on the building is Marble Graphics and their new home is directly behind the business. We will meet on Thursday, June 22, 2006, at 6:00 P.M. Plans for food and refreshment are not final at this time so tune in again soon. We will look forward to seeing you there. May meeting is at Oscar's Steak House just off of the Gerbe's Super Center plaza on Thursday, May 11, 2006, at 6:00 P.M. We will be meeting in one of the regular dining areas, so tell the register attendant that you are there for the Class of 1963 meeting in the meeting room and they will direct you. The room is provided at no cost, other than our food orders; but we will be responsible to provide gratuities directly to our server(s). The restaurant will not charge gratuities. Ed and Charlotte Hackman indicate that they will be coming in from Texas (I think) and will attend, so make them feel at home again. We will look forward to seeing you there.
April meeting is at Ryan's Restaurant on the Wal-Mart plaza on Thursday, April 20, 2006, at 6:00 P.M. We will be meeting in the meeting room at the far end of the restaurant, so tell the register attendant that you are there for the Class of 1963 meeting in the meeting room and they will direct you. The room is provided at no cost, other than our food orders; but we will be responsible to provide gratuities directly to our server(s). The restaurant will not charge gratuities. Chris and Marsha Graham indicate that they will be coming in from Washington D.C. and will attend, so make them feel at home again. We will look forward to seeing you there. The photographs [click here] from Thursday, March 16, "get-together" at Pizza Hut are now online. We had eighteen classmates and spouses in attendance and, I think, everyone had a good time with old friends and fellowship. I will let you decide who was there and who was not and later we will put up the names of those attending. Get your picture taken with the group in April.
We have talked about this many times and have finally put those words into action. We are attempting to start a monthly class dinner meeting locally that is open to all class members who wish to participate. The intent is simply good food, good fellowship, good fun, and all of the tall tales that you can get away with. A number of the other graduating classes around 1963 have been doing this for some time and all seem to enjoy the get-togethers. Attendance at our first meeting, January 20, 2006, was a little poorer than we had anticipated; but we had a good little group. It took us about two hours to sort everyone there out and were just getting into the good gossip when we had to break up due to near closing time at Panera Bread. The general consensus of the group was that we should try to hold regular monthly meetings at a designated time and place if possible and that the third Tuesday evening of every month was the most desirable time as for now. Unfortunately, the only time that could be booked at Panera Bread for February was on the evening of the seventh or the fourteenth. Since Valentine's day is on the fourteenth the next meeting time was booked for 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 07, 2006. All parties there were to make calls to personal friends in the class to try to boost attendance. Sorry for such short notice; but the next available time was in the second week of March at Panera. In the mean time, I will be looking for some additional possible meeting places. More information on the intervening meetings later.
==>> Let everyone that you know that 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 07, 2006 at the back meeting room of Panera Bread is the next scheduled g"get-together".
