I painted The Third Station in Dec. 1995, just one week before seeing the show for a second time. I was looking forward to meeting Ted again, and viewing the artwork with him at the Capitol Theatre. It was close to Christmas and I kept thinking how it must have felt for him to portray Jesus in the movie that was filmed in Israel, and how it might have affected him. I had seen a beautiful photo in a book of a statue that marks the Third Station in the Holy Land, and after seeing a television special on the artist Michelangelo, I was interested in trying to capture the look of stone with oil paint. These two ideas combined to create the painting, The Third Station. S. Moar All artwork within this site is copyright Susan Moar © Copyright 98 and cannot be copied or used in any way. |
