November 17, 2003

  • Science:  Reading chapter three from the text book and discussing photosynthesis.  Next, we’ll observe our classroom plants.
  • Social Studies:  Visit a web page that explains how and when the pilgrims came to Plymouth Rock. Click here for the web page!.  Next we’ll prepare for our Thanksgiving presentation: learning parts and designing our own costumes.
  • Review notes about photosynthesis.  Need more help?  Click here for a review!
  • Memorize lines for Thanksgiving presentation.
  • Write each of this week’s spelling words in a sentence, be ready to share them with the class tomorrow.
  • Signed weekly progress reports.
  • Signed field trip permission slip.

Tuesday

Novemeber 18, 2003

  • Math:  Activity with popping popcorn to find which brand yields the most popped kernels.  We will analyze the data using percentages and graphs.
  • Language Arts:  Students will read their library book during reading time and follow up with a written book review and corresponding picture.  There should be time for the in class, but for those students who may not complete it in the given time, I will allow time at home to finish it.
  • Math worksheet about percentages.
  • Finish up book reviews.
  • Be working on Thanksgiving presentation.
  • Study for Friday’s spelling test.
  • Spelling word sentences.

Wednesday

November 19, 2003

  • Science:  In table groups, the students will be given different steps of photosynthesis and will be responsible for putting them in the proper order.  They can share ideas and use notes form class.  Next, will make more observations about our classroom plants.
  • Social Studies:  We will work more on our presentation.  As well as focus on how the Indians helped the pilgrims with their crops and farming.  This will relate to our science unit on plants!
  • Work on lines for Thanksgiving presentation.
  • Science worksheet on photosynthesis.
  • Study for spelling test.
  • Math worksheet

Thursday

November 20, 2003

  • Math:  We will do an M&M activity with the computer and spreadsheets.  Using a fun size package, we will determine what percentages of the bag each color represents.  We will use a spreadsheet and pie graph to show our data.
  • Language Arts:   We will travel to the computer lab to type our book reviews and practice our keyboarding skills.
  • Worksheet on photosynthesis.

Friday

November 21, 2003

  • Spelling test.
  • Give out weekly progress reports.
  • Practice our Thanksgiving presentation.
  • Mini Field Trip!  We will be traveling to a nearby greenhouse to learn more about plants and wrap up this science unit!
  • Get weekly progress report signed.
  • Nothing!
