INTERESTING CASE OF THE MONTH December 2003 case A FNA right and left breast masses, 65-year old female: synchronous invasive ductal cell carcinomas
Left breast nodule
Right breast nodule
Many groups of malignant cells in both nodules, but the cells in the left breast nodule are distinctively smaller than the ones in the right. Otherwise they are similarly suggestive of invasive ductal carcinoma. The cytology report called attention to the possibility of being independent synchronous tumors. The definitive surgical specimens showed associated areas of in situ carcinomas in both tumors, giving more emphasis to the hypothesis of a case of double synchronous carcinomas of the breast.
