The smears show the typical features of small blue cell tumors: single small cells, with numerous loose groups showing nuclear molding. The nuclei are oval or angulated, with "salt and pepper" chromatin, small or absent nucleoli. The cytoplasm is scant or almost absent, a faint bluish line between the nuclei. Some pseudo-rosettes were seen. Few mitoses also were seen, as well as apoptotic cells and bodies.
