Cervical smear, mixed-type carcinoma: squamous cell carcinoma with area of adenocarcinoma

The smears show both glandular and squamous cell carcinomas. The surgical specimen revealed a mixed-type cervical carcinoma with a predominant squamous cell component, but also an invasive adenocarcinoma area: the so-called adenosquamous carcinoma of the cervix.
