The smears show many large anaplastic malignant cells, some of them with featureless cytoplasm and central nucleus. The ones stained by the Papanicolaou method, show some cells with round dense eosinophilic cytoplasm. These findings are suggestive of peritoneal invasion by the squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix previously resected.
