Liquor (Cytospin) cytology: urothelial carcinoma metastasis; the smears show presence of many large isolated malignant cells, most of them with eccentric nuclei, somewhat coarse clumped chromatin, suggestive of leptomeningeal metastases from a poorly differentiated urothelial bladder carcinoma, previously resected. Some of the smaller cells resemble myelomatous cells, due to a pale paranuclear cytoplasmic area, but the larger cells make this diagnosis unlikely. Carcinoma of urinary bladder is a relatively uncommon cause of leptomeningeal metastases.
