Mars played Ka Kui`s freind and fellow police man Kim in PS 1+2, is now a bad guy who helps Panther escape.
Panther is played by ex Bruce Lee double, Yuen Wah. Yuen was also a member of the Peking Opera Troupe, like Jackie. This is also not the first time Jackie as fought him on film. He is the cigar smoking bad guy from Dragons Forever (1987).
The bit where Panther and Ka Kui escape down the long wire was deemed too dangerous. So they were fastened on and then the scene speeded up.
We first learn in this film that the events of Police Story 1 take place only a year after Ka Kui as finished being a trainee police officer.

Philip Chan as took over the role as commisioner. His carrer seems too be made up of being comedy police men.
Director Stanley Tong is an ex stunt man and can be seen in this film.
Michelle Yeoh performed her own stunts. Including the motorcycle onto the train. The stuntman who tested the stunt fell and hit the tracks breaking his leg.
Jackie was almost knocked out while of the ladder at the bottom of the helicopter.
After so much money was spent on Operation Condor : Armour of God 2, Jackie promised not to go over budget again. But he did on this film.
They still did not know how the film was going too end even while filming.
This film was filmed in synchsound (sound filmed on set). This is unussual in HK films, and its probably the first time Jackies real voice is heard in a Hong Kong movie.
Train lines in Malaysia had too be shutdown durring filming causing traffic jams.
This film was unsuccesful at the HK box office, but succesful internationally. Especially in Taiwan where it broke records.
This film was also important for Michelle Yeoh. This was her comeback film after she took a long retirement.
After the success of Rumble in the Bronx (1995) this film was released in America as Supercop. It had a new dub track and new soundtrack including: Tina Turner, Tom Jones and even 2pac.
Other things changed were that scenes were removed. these were:
1. Title sequence and the meeting at the begining.
2. The scene in the market where they buy rare animals for food.
3. The woman being injected with heroin.
This film is full of continuity faults. But my favourites are: The reappearing smashed wind screen and the guy whos bullet hole falls off his chest.
