TRIVIA:

Police Story was inspired by Jackies failed attempt at Hollywood. Jackie filmed The Protector (1985) for the US market it failed. Mainly down too director James Glickenhaus who refused too let Jackie make the film his way. He tryed too make a more Chinese Dirty Harry. So Jackie thought he`d show em how its done. First he reedited the Protector for HK, then he made this cop classic.

Jackie first played a modern day cop in Winners and Sinners (1983) directed by Samo (Martial Law) Hung.

Another link too Winners and Sinners is the opium smoker is the same guy who got Curly (John Shum) arrested in W&S.

Due to the success of this film Jackie became a spokes person for the real Hong Kong police.

The pole Jackie slides down at the end was meant too have its lights plugged into a low voltage battery but someone plugged them into the wall. Resulting in burns.

Stallone stole the stopping the bus sequence for Tango and Cash. And Brandon Lee stole the motor bike/shopping mall scene for Rapid Fire.

In some parts of Asia the film opens with a cop having his birthday and Jackie throws a cake at his face. This was removed for international versions, but still later in the film the cop repeats the favour too Jackie.

Also only ever seen in the Japanese laserdisk there is an extended ending with the gangsters being put in police vans and took away with Jackie being also arrested, then straight after alternative outtakes. (Featured on the Hong Kong Legends DVD)

Look in the background during the scene where Jackie fights the men who had the pram. There is a van with a JC sign on.

The scene in the mall with Ka Kui going threw the glass on the motor bike was NOT performed by Jackie.
