The hot-springs-fed foot spas of Japan are our inspiration to promote our wonderful new products. The idea itself came from visits to our own hot Northwest hot springs, sadly so few and far away. We thought that soaking the feet in hot water makes a great way to relax, and when we heard about the foot spas of Japan we decided that 100 million people cannot be wrong. And when you see the tremendous variety of styles and settings of Japanese ashiyus, you'll be inspired too. Ashiyu Gallery Some ashiyus are at private resorts. This ashiyu is at a high school. This ashiyu in the photo on the right is in a train station! Visitors are often surprised to discover this Japanese pasttime.
People of all ages enjoy
The traditional and the modern From the fanciful to the elegant, Ashiyus are an architectural element all their own. The biggest Ashiyu is a new spa in Nasu with 200 feet of benches around a pool with a mini-stage! This is the only gallery of Ashiyus we've found anywhere. Thanks to the photographers who captured these images and contributed them to this gallery for increasing international understanding and appreciation of this wonderful art form and cultural phenomenon. Some foot spas are rock-lined paths that give an intense massage. |
