The Blues

A poem by John Cody & Tony Myers

The blues have always been my kind of music.

When I hear the songs, I have to sing alone.

Well I guess Ive always been just another singer.

I never could put much feeling in my songs.

Then you came, and you were all I ever wanted.

My happiness was being close to you.

Then you went away, and left me here today,

With my guitar, and a feeling called the blues.

Now Ive got something I can sing the blues a bout.

Put a teardrop in my voice and cry cry.

Ive got something I can sing the blues about.

Its a heart thats broke but will not die.

I have listen to all the great blues singers.

The ones who lived their songs in life are the best.

Well if heartaches and pain were stepping stones to fame.

Then I know that I would be there with the greatest.

Cause I got something I can sing the blues about.

You left the blues when you said goodbye.
