4/13/03 Well I have a 20 year old university student. His girlfriend called me in the middle of the night telling me to come get him. He was acting "weird". Well he had a psychotic episode. First time of us ever hearing of any thing like that. San Antonio hospital came to the conclusion [that] since he was paranoid and having bizarre thoughts, like his girlfriend was trying to poison him, that he was "schizhophrenic" [quotation marks added]. They gave him [major psych drug]. After doing a drug screening and finding marijuana and no signs of any other drugs they assumed it was "schizo". [They] sent me to a follow up clinic the next week. [We] saw a psychiatrist for maybe 5 minutes who told us to come back in a month and stay on [the major psych drug], and even added [major narcoleptic drug]; when there was absolutely no sign of psychosis. Two days later [I] took him to a psychologist who told us go ahead and take him off of meds, let's see how it goes, (we were inisistant). That was 6 weeks ago. He was a zombie and had panic attacks while on [two major psych drugs]. Since [then] he has had no meds [and] he is back to work, back in spring session... My point is who do you believe? The psychiatrist [who] told us it was imperative to keep him on the meds, "his recovery and chances of living a " normal" life will be so much better"? Well, no meds and sleep brought him back to his normal lifestyle. They didn't even take into consideration that smoking marijuana everyday may had been a problem. How many other poor kids do they put in the zombie stage... and scare the parents into a life time of hell with psychiatric drugs.?
I got an email from [another] student who heard about my son at school. He went up and introduced himself. [He] asked my son "how did they get you back"? He proceeded to tell my son his 19 year old brother had been admitted to a mental ward 6 days ago and he is like a wacked out zombie. I don't know the whole situation, but just maybe he wasnt schizo either. Then when you give him those meds... they make you crazy!!!!!! After my son told me how he was feeling on the meds I knew he needed to be off them. They actually made him think weird things. As of now the hospital is "detoxing" the boy from the meds [they] gave [him]. Wow, huh! Thanks.

This really caught me off guard, I wasn't expecting to be confronted by the sarcastic reality of how society is quick to diagnose someone as having ADD/ADHD... Good way to reach people.

I just surfed into your page and laughed. Thank God someone else is also telling the truth.
I suffered at the hands of these lunatics seven years ago and survived.
Keep up the good work.
