Lyrics
Rusty Old American Dreams
This song to me is about a car that is in need of an owner. The car is the one singing the song. In the song the car tells of his need of an owner that will take care of his needs. The car says that it will be good to the owner as long as the owner will take car of it. It is old however and it does not want to be left on the side of a road for its final days. This song made me feel depressed because the car is in need of an owner. I felt this song was probably a country song, written by an obvious car lover. The car represents what is good about America. It talks about how it came from the days of cheap gasoline and it is a tailfin locomotive, it was born in 1958. It says that is going nowhere on the side of the road and it longs to be moved and restored. The car longs to have a new owner even though it has be loved by previous owners it wants one last owner for its last stage of its life.

The Old Playground
This song talks about how on the playground the ownership is known by all those who play on it. Here dreams are made for some kids but others are just playing for the sake of playing, on the playground nothing else matters except what is happening on the playground. The song goes on to explain how the playground governs for itself, all who play know the rules and follow them out of respect. This song takes me back to elementary school days; it makes me think of all my memories on the playground. Every child spends time on a playground in their life and many can recall a moment that makes them smile when they look back on it. This song also reminds me of the show Recess. How the kids on that show live on the playground, thats where they gain respect from the rest of the kids at the school. I think that any person that remembers their childhood can relate to this song and the lyrics to it.

Subdivisions
To me this song talks about the differences in opinions in the world today. Towards the beginning of the song it talks about growing up and how it seems your parents have your future set up for you already, how you have no decisions in life to make about your future. The chorus talks about how one makes a decision in which direction there life goes. Everyone no matter what age you have to make decisions in life, every day we have to make hundreds of decision, although some are not significant but every once in awhile you must make a life changing decision. This could have a dramatic affect on which direction your life takes. Everyone can relate to this song, and after reading it I felt that I had to be more conscience of the decisions that I make on a daily basis and look at how they can affect my life. But I think that this song opened my eyes on some decisions that I have made in my life.
Clocks 1-8-05
To me Clocks is a very dark song. It seems like someone who is confused and does not know what to do, and they are running out of time. The person is screaming for help. I think that this song is a slow song, and more of a rock song. To me it makes me feel depressed, I do not like this song. However I feel like I can relate to part of it because of the clock ticking part. Time is running out. Occasionally I feel that I am in a crunch for time. But unlike how I feel this song is, depressing I do not get depressed when I am in a crunch, I just find a way to get done what I need to get done. When the song say You are, You Are I feel that the person who is singing it, is telling someone that they are the problem for them. It states they are the confusion, ticking clocks and closing walls. I would not listen to this song if I were to choose any song to listen to.

1-15-05 The Book of my Life
I think that this song is about someone examining there life, looking at the complexity of it. Life is sometimes simple and other times complex. The person singing the song is talking about the twists and turns and uncertainty of life. Nothing in life is guaranteed. He talks about how his life is unique and only he can understand parts of it. The singer talks about the past present and future in the song. He talks about how his book is already written but, he is unable not read the book, it is a mystery, and he does not know where his life is going. He goes on singing about events in his life that have changed him, from deaths to his place in eternity. The book of ones life is complicated.
