The color that best represents Pap Finn is red. Pap, Hucks father, has an outrageous temper that always seems to affect Huck. Huck says when he first sees Pap again, I used to be scared of him all the time, he tanned me so much. Pap was a drunk and his drinking always brought him to anger and then eventually, he would beat Huck. Huck feared whenever he drank. Pap eventually kidnapped Huck because he was unable to get Hucks money. He took him and hid him in a cabin by the river. Paps beatings and drunkenness drove Huck to fake his own death and escape from his aggressive fathers captivity.

The duke and king join Huck and Jim on their journey on the Mississippi. After several days on the river Huck figures out that the men are not what they say they are, a duke and king, but they are con men. Con men are extremely shady and that is why I chose the shade of grey to represent them. Huck learns that he cannot trust these men because of their history. Throughout their adventure on the river the two cons become more desperate for money as more people learn of their scam. The men ultimately betray Hucks trust when they turn Jim in for a reward to Mr. Phelps. To Huck the cons are shady and cannot be trusted.

Miss Watson and Widow Douglas are always looking out for Hucks best interest. Throughout the beginning stages of the book they try and teach Huck how to be civilized. They are compassionate with him; this is the reason I chose purple to represent them. Purple is a soft color that to me represents loving, caring, and compassion. All of which the women show Huck, even when he is gone, they are concerned with his whereabouts. Huck realizes after being with his father that the women truly care about him and want him to be raised the right way. They are parental figures towards Huck.

Huck Finn shows his intelligence throughout the book. From his faking his own death to all of his plots to save Jim and traveling the river. The reason I chose green is because green represents intelligence and wealth. Even though Huck is not wealthy, his brain is. He is full of ideas that are practical and that he uses to aid him in numerous situations. Huck unlike Tom is able to take on a situation and figure out the best way to resolve it, realistically. One of the best examples of this is when the boys are attempting to free Jim. Tom comes up with too elaborate plans that would take strategy and hard work. Hucks idea is to simply tell Jim that they are going to free by simply picking the lock.

Jim lived on the river with Huck throughout the journey. He is dying to be freed from slavery, and he feels that if he is freed from slavery he can do accomplish anything he wants to. That is why I chose blue for Jim. Blue is a color for freedom, as well as the color of sky and river. All Jim wants is to be free, that is why he runs to Jacksons Island. For his entire life he has been a slave and worked extremely hard, he was a lonely person until he befriended Huck. Huck gave him some hope for a better life, on the river and away from slavery. Jim has higher aspirations for a better life for him. The sky is the limit for Jim.

Tom has done many things with Huck, some of which are not so smart. However, Tom is always full of ideas, although some are far-fetched he does come up with ideas that are, for the most part useful. From the Band of Robbers to the multiple ways of freeing Jim with silverware, Toms mind is always trying to make the smallest situation exciting and adventurous. One could say Toms mind has a light bulb that is why I chose yellow to represent the color of the light.
